Hi,

Well my A/C is broke on my 92' fastback and summer has come. Time to get it fixed.

My questions are:

1) What compressor(s) could replace my unit? My factory manual says it's a Calsonic V-5. Is this the only unit that will work?

2) Is there a place online that sells the new compressor that I need for a cheep price? If no, where could I find one for a good price?

3) One of my a/c pipes has a hole in it so I'll need a new pipe too. It's the section that goes between the engine and the firewall. Can I get one of those online too? Again if no, where could I find one for a good price?

4) And how much do you think I'll ultimately spend getting this system back online? I know a shop will have to do the parts and coolant installation so I want to know what kinda $$$ I'm looking at all together.

Thanks for your help!

Mine's broken too. Ive been searching around, for the whole system with the lines and mech. parts i talked one of my friends down to $400. thats with his mechanics discount rate and without labor. i have to do it all myself. that doesnt include the vacuum, the oil, or the freon. you're probably looking at around $800-$1000 total to have it fixed. at a shop. Ever heard of the 2-40 AC? two windows down, 40 mph..... have fun

Yeah, that's the amount I've been getting, $800 - 1000. It seems like I'll have to rely on the old-fashoined air conditioning system too. I think I'm still going to have it diagnosed ($88) just so I know for a fact what's wrong with it.
