last week, my exhaust fell off on the highway (dnt no if this has anything to do with it). yeasterday, i was sitting in my 240, the key was in only so i could listen to the radio, the car was off. i was playing with my clutch, and shifting through gears, when out of no where, smoke starting coming out of my dash and the vents. the lining around the gauge cluster just started pouring out gray smoke, i removed the key and unplugged the battery, and now, my a/c, heat and all that stuff does not work. i'm no good with elecrical crap, so what do i bhuy, or what can i fix??? any ideas?thx

First you need to find what wire cuased the short. Did you recently install a new stereo? If so check your wiring .

Apparently the "professional" didn't install it professionally. He probably left a stripped wire untaped where your gear shift is or up closer where the bottom of the deck is. You shifting through gears probably shook the car enough to where the wire fell down and contacted with a ground or shorted to some other wires.

I recommend you bring it back to the professional and make him peel it open and fix it. I wouldn't remove anything yourself so they can't say it was your fault.

I'd be very careful taking it back top the person whom you believe caused the problem. If his install damaged other parts of your car and he sees this, he can easily make it look like it was a failing part and not a bad install that caused the problem (hence, he would not be liable).

Take it to the manager and make sure you are there with the car Call the p0p0's if they try anything fishy.
