To make it easier on other members, here's a more legible version of the original post:
I have lost the power in the steering; it is very tough to impossible to steer. What should be my plan of action? I am no mechanic, but I'd like to think I am not stupid. But there's a lot of parts. I am just looking for info on what I should replace and what I should be paying for the all the work. I am not sure if it's the pump or the rack and pinon (steering gear). The PS fluid level is normal, but still no power in the system. How long can I go without the power? I have a fear to drive it because it's going to put a lot of extra stress on the steering parts, and I don't want an all-out failure in it. Any help would be greatly helpful and I would like to hear back from people. Thanks for taking the time to read and reply with any info.. I will keep updating on here as I go to, maybe, help out the next guy with their pathy. I am @ 179981 miles, and the truck needs a lot of work. Like, suspension struts are toast, a noise coming from the front right wheel, a shimmy when braking at speed, and wheel wobble while turning. So I can suspect bearings are bad, so are tie rods and probably sway bar links; almost everything on my truck is bad.. except the engine which runs good, and luckily no problems with the 4wd 'cause that would be another headache..
