I raced a friend at work's Neon SRT-4. We raced down hill, ya I know, go figure, better for his FWD worse for my RWD plus I lose my big traction advantage. But that's how he wanted to race so whatever. A person in the SRT-4 called the race over a Nextel phone, it was not days later till I remembered that the Nextel’s have about a .5 second latency so that's why he takes off before me. You can tell from the video I didn’t launch. He took off then I took off, I pulled up next to him after I hit boost and held him till about 75mph. maybe I’m just being a sore loser. I lost by about a car length, when I let off and went behind him I was doing about 95mph, which is about when the 1/4 is over for me. Anyway, here is the video:

This is my car's setup for the race:

Save target as on the video, I don't have a streaming server. Plus it's slow.

Well, that was when I hit 4th gear, i guess combined with my inability to shift into 4th superfast and his car just pulled harder at those speeds. Till then I was right on him.

sounds like it was a good race even though you were edged out. With that 14.4 1/4 it seems abotu right that you woulda been edged out.

I think you did pretty damn good. You didn't launch, and you are running stock boost on an s13 engine in a heavier s14. And seeing as those srt's run like what? 15 16 lbs of boost. I say crank It up a few pounds! But he did win, make sure that's the last one :ylsuper

I don't know about that one fred. If he hasn't broken into the 14's there's a small cahnce if any only if the srt-4 driver is a very bad driver.

I'm not sure how good of a driver he is. We basically went from a street start, which isnt what I wanted, so it was just straight acceleration and not traction. I'm sure if we started at the same time and I was able to launch I could win. But races aren't always fair and that's life I guess.

If It were me, I would have paid the extra money and got an S14 motor because of the T-28 turbo. Anyway, shake It off and rip him apart next time.

For the extra it would have costed it just was not worth it at the time. It's harder and more expencive to get parts for the S14 motor anyway.
