This car has been in California its whole life until this september when I moved it over to Chicago. I don't know if the problem has to do with the weather or not, but I just thought that I would mention that. Anyways, last week I noticed while driving my car was shaking/vibrating a bit, then I when I pulled in to park and the car was idle I noticed that it was actually shaking a lot. Also that's when the emissions check light came on. So I take it to an autozone cause they will hook up a car to a computer for free. But the guy couldn't find my ODB connector. His opinion was that it was my fuel injectors. I don't know that much about troubleshooting car problems so I was hoping that some of you guys could give me some insight before I took it to a mechanic. Thanks for your time.

Sounds like faulty injectors, an Infiniti dealer can tell instantly by hooking up to a Consult machine. That won't be free, but you'll know for sure.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have any idea of the cost of the repair? I heard injectors can get pricey. Am I looking at spending of a grand here? Thanks.

It depends how many injectors are bad, if you do all 8 it can get lot more than 1k.

But we dont know for sure yet anyway. It could be other things too (even tho what u describe does read typical for injectors).A consult check is the way to go.

If it is an injector (still an "if"), there are four you can get to without removing the plenum and four you can't. Plenum removal would add 8 hours to the job, so there's a $700 spread, depending on which injector! Injectors themselves are somewhere around $130 ea. from Scottsdale.

In his last words on the subject, Dennis said that injector failure is pretty rare. I would go the Nissan Consult route!

Do a search on the subject. There's a pretty reliable check you can do yourself. The injector harness connects near the rear of the right bank. You can check the resistance of each injector and verify it's in spec. Consult is very very good, but it's never a bad thing to go into a shop with a good idea what's wrong.

Hey thanks guys, if I can get my hands on a multimeter I will try and check the resistances. Otherwise will the nissan consult be available at any infinti or nissan dealership?

A multimeter is always handy to have

Check to see if the power is on in the light switch you are replacing or seeing if the tech tells you what you already know. Knowledge is power

Radio Shack or anyother place can sell you one for under twenty

A great addition to anyones tool box

Good luck

Thanks for all the advice guys, I really appreciate it. Does anyone recommend a place to go to in the Chicago land area? I am in Evanston and there are both Nissan and Infiniti dealerships local to me, but I would make a trip to a place if it would be a better place to go to.

Thanks

It's rare in Georgia per non-oxygenated gas, but very common in CA, AZ, CO, etc. I think Chicago area has oxygenated gas too, so all injectors are suspect sooner than later.

If more than 1 or 2 are bad it's probably more economical to replace them all to save on repeat labor costs. Any Nissan specialist should be able to handle it, but DO NOT use anything other than brand new OEM injectors. Most have had problems with rebuilt or aftermarket injectors. Better to spend $2000 and do it right than spend $700 now, then $900, then $400, then $800, etc. etc. etc.

I think Infiniti of Lisle is the Chicago area.

A NICO member by name of Tom Novak is the parts manager there.

try that place.

Hey thanks guys. Yeah California definetly has oxygenated gas, I never new it could damage anything though. Man I never would have expected something like this to happen at 85000 miles.
