my 94 wont start! i need help!!

i have a 94 240 it was sittin in front of my house for a couple months and i got a new battery, new spark plugs and wires, new gasket, it has gas but a couple months old gas, and new air filter

when i try to start it, it cranks up and the engine kicks and jumps but it just doesnt start. it started once but not for long, also it smells like gas like crazy after i stop. im new to this, but my brothers have had 240s with sr20s but i havent been able to have them help me out so i decided to ask here. help a fellow silvia brother out!!

I was assuming he had it apart, he said a gasket was changed didnt say which. I like to jump to conclusions...

When you changed the wires, did you put them in the exact same spot on the distributer? You said you were new and thats a pretty common newb thing to do.

yeah i checked online plus the distributor says which one goes where, i think im getting a spark cause the car had turned on for a second but when it idled it kinda seemed ilke it wanted to turn off i reved it a couple times and it sounded ok but also it smelled like gas real bad, idk what that is either but it turning on gave me some hope. oh i had changed the gasket under the engine head. oh and before it was running good, but every now and then it would just shut off, i really want to get this thing running and good so i can start showin off to everyone my convertible thanks for the help everyone by the way, keep it coming!!

Oh!! Another 94 240sx!! Nice to see you!!Sounds like your are losing pressure on fuel line. Any gas leaks under the car?

Just a thought check your fuel filter, its right around the power steering.

But it's on the other side. It's on passenger side right next to oil filter.

yeah i was thinking the fuel filter, if that didnt work than the fuel pump or the injectors. i dont think there is any gas leaks, i cant tell cause its sittin on grass and dirt, and i cant get it movin cause it wont start!!! plus it has a flat so movin it is nearly impossible its just one prob after another... cars, you gotta love 'em lol, ill drop by the convertible forum once i got it running then ill show you guys pics of me in it until then im too ashamed.

go for the 300zx fuel filter. a little better flow and its looks better IMO. ask for the 93

Well if you have another car go to autozone buy one and remove the filter, its pretty easy, one tube on top and one on the bottom. Just remember to take out the fuse so when you take the tube out the fuel doesn't come out

I wonder why this would be???? Fuel filter side fuel line connection got busted or something? If there's no leak, you shouldn't smell any gas.

i was thinkin it was cause the car hadn't been started in so long maybe it was the smell of old gas burning idk ima have a mechanic come look just in case, but ill tell him ill do the work i just need to know what exactly it is that i need to do. i wana do my own work, makes me feel special, plus the thought of someone else messin with my car pisses me off oh and smileys rock

i found out that it wasnt that at all, in fact my engine is flooded with gas. i tried this thing in which you try to start it with the gas peddle all the way down caus it lets in more air, but either way it still doesnt work. anyone know how to fix a flooded engine?

pull the plugs out and let them dry. Are you sure your distributor is not 180 degrees backwards. you will still get spark and fuel just not at the right time.

its sounds 2 me like its n the igntion. cause u need gas nd spark to run nd ur getting gas. the only thing else it could b is the spark.double check the wires, roter n the distributer nd make sure all the harness's r connected good.
