I took my car to get inspected today and it failed the emissions test. It passed the high rpm test, but failed the idle test. I noticed that is has a pretty rough idle lately, I think my injectors are going bad. The car shakes at idle as well. Could I have a bad maf sensor too? I want to fix this problem asap, but I don't want to replace stuff I don't have to. The car runs great under heavy throttle, but light throttle it bogs down and I have to floor it to downshift. Does this sound like an injector problem? I also have wes and robert's nico ecu installed in the car, could that have made me fail the test? If I need to replace the injectors, where can I get them at for a good price?

Our ECU will have it pass emissions...

What did it fail??? My guess is the injectors are causing excess hydrocarbons.

Maintenance history? Especially with regard to the intake path.

Try the MAF connector wiggle? Last KS replacement?

Might I ask which parts you don't intend to replace if you keep it? Might as well know where the point of no return is now. I bet it is near the chain guides?

Idle areas of the fuel map are the same as stock in the modified ECU. No need to change them.

If you have a rough idle, that's your problem right there. Make sure you don't have a bad injector, or you don't have a vac. leak.

Thank god for annual emission tests otherwise many would never service cars............I miss the days and states with annual serious useablility/safety testing: brakes, tires, lights etc.

robert, whats the easiest way to find out what injector is bad? How many can be changed without removing the intake plenum?

Go find a good mechnic that has one of the machines they can use to solve the problem. Does the Q have an EGR, that is a common one. I had to replace my cat on my 300ZX recently, I guess 22 years was a good run for the original one.

My advise, find a good mechnic that you can trust with the machine and start off with the cheap stuff and work there way out. I live in California and when my 84' 300 requires a smog test I take it to my mechanic and say see you next tuesday, make it pass. Somtimes it costs me but it always passes.
