My 92 Q45 has an idle problem. I just had the injectors done, changed the idle control valve not to mention a bad left knock sensor that had melted. and powder coated the intake. A gift for myself. Now it runs like crap and there was a strong smell of carbon. I'm on my second ICV and still no improvement. It was suggested that I use some Berrymans Intake System 3 Part Cleaner. This was supposed to clean all the carbon from the intake,valves,02 sensors and cat converter. This did nothing. Now the shop won't work on it anymore and i'm stuck with a nice car that -at start up goes to 1900 rpm's and will not go below 1000 until it is in drive or reverse. At that point it goes into gear like someone just ran into it.The rpm needle is up and down reapetedly. When you start driving it kind of bucks a bit. At stop lights it sit at 1100 rpm's. Any help is welcome.

Sounds like you have a vacuum leak.. I bet you didnt hook something up right...

When you say "injectors" done what does that consist of...? My guess is your "shop" didnt do diddly squat with your car as far as making things better.. IF you didnt replace a bunch of hoses while you were under there your in for a pile of trouble.

Obviosuly your Q has overheated at one point in time, and it was a doozey because it takes quite a bit to melt KS.

Are you in evansville still? Too bad youre not closer to indy/Anderson, Id come look at it for you...

Once I see you've replied back im going to move tihs to the infiniti online mechanic...

No hoses were changed. I got 8 new injectors from PopPop (great service i might add!!). I've put $$ and down time into this problem with no relief. I will check for leaks tomorrow. It has'nt ever overheated.

Like Wes said Rizzo that high of an RPM at start up normally is caused by a vacuum leak which most likely occured when you had plenum apart.

High cold crank idle [1500-2000 rpm] is usually a function of warm up system, doesn't the idle drop after 10 minutes as the coolant approches 174F.

Is the throttle cable too tight [should be 1/4" slop before the throttle gets cracked open?
