Hi I have a 92 Nissan 240sx and my stereo I can get everything to work but for some odd reason I have always have to ground the head unit with my own ground wire to the body of the car and to the casing of the head-unit it really is annoying and none of the settings save and if any on could help me out with tips I would appreciate it I know I see a lot of people saying there's will not work make your own ground but you will probably have the same problem I'm haveing but I'm picky and I really want my stuff to save and I don't want my own ground but let me know thanks.

Welcome to Nico!

Is this the factory head unit or aftermarket?

Also, at the end of every sentence, that's where the period goes. It makes reading SO much easier.

Nissan used the chassis of the radio to ground it out, so there is no ground wire in the harness. You can screw it to the radio itself or to any piece of metal that is convenient.

DO you have all your blue/white wires hooked up together as well? Some weird stuff sometimes happens when they're not IIRC...

Do the settings not stay on when it is grounded properly? There may be a wire on your head unit that needs power that isn't hooked up or something also, maybe you should get out the manual for your model and see if you have everything hooked up that should be as well.

If the radio still does not retain presets after you have grounded the radio chassis to the metal of the car, then you may not have the yellow wire from the new radio harness on a constant 12V feed.

Thanks I'll look again and every time I turn my car on ACC my clock light comes on but none of the numbers, and no power to my horn or nothing and my stero won't come on either. But when I start the car sometimes I have to tap the gas for all my power to come on then my lights and dash light work, and my stero will work but my setting don't save. It's like my battery gets disconnected so idk.

I'm actually surprised to hear about a 240sx with a stereo in it. I dont think I've ever seen the stock head unit, and maybe about 1 out of every 10 I see has an aftermarket one in it.

Well that sounds more like an ignition relay or something to me now...
