Was doing 70-80MPH , she suddenly lost all power . I was able to coast from the left lane to the right shoulder . Tried to start , just cranked over , nothing . After calling the tow and a friend to pick me up , I waited . After about 10-15 minutes , I tried to start , she started right up .Was a mild day , maybe 60deg. outside . I continued to my destination 70 miles away , came back next day like nothing happened She seems fine now .Any ideas anybody ?130Kmi now. Fuel pump , plugs , chainguides , the works , etc. done at 70Kmi . Fuel filter changed again recently .second Fuel pump slightly noisy again .

The noisy pump drawing excessive current melted the solder pad [ground terminnal] in pump controller causing pump to stop afer 10-15 minutes off the solder reformed and solidified allowing the pump to run again.

Almost every 90-96 Q that gets towed in with similar symptoms either starts on arrival or starts when we jump out the controller...........you must examine the interior of controller for overheat damage.

Of course there are other possibilities but when pumps are changed techs never bother to look in tank [for crud or water] because they know the new pump will probably last 12k/12months.

My first pump lasted 145k the second was changed at 220k...never changed the controller but examined it carefully and carry a spare in the trunk just in case because it has 247,000 miles on it.

Q45tech ,Thanks for help . So you recommend changing the pump now , and inspecting the controller ? Where is the controller located , maybe I can check it myself ?

The FPCU is secured to the underside of the rear deck between the two speaker assemblies. It's a brushed aluminum color and you can trace wires from it to the top of the fuel tank feeding the pump... You'll want to look for areas in the socket that look like they've overheated or solder joints that have overheated on the board inside.
