It has been running decent although it has a little bit of a miss when idling every once in a while. I stopped at a gas station to get a drink jumped back in she coughed then nothing. Just spin and spin. I checked a few connectors cleaned some green crap from the maf connector still nothing. The check engine light did not come on so I guess no codes. Didnt hear the fuel pump running but I have a new one so it is real quiet anyway. Pulled the fuel hose and a little fuel trickled out not much pressure.

Tried it again and she fired right up and runs fine now. I almost wish it was still broke so I could fix something. Does this sound like the maf? I have never replaced it.

Sounds like the FPCU or associated circuitry.

You have replaced your timing chain guides?

Yep did the chain guides before I put this engine in. I found out the hard way slapped a engine in it and blew it up after 150 miles I split the block in half is that a first? Thats when I found you guys and this place is great otherwise the car would be in the scrap yard for sure.

I will pull the fpcu and check it out the wiring looks fine. So if the maf stoped working due to a bad connection would it turn off the pump? I know if you unplug it the engine stalls immediately.

No, it would limp in fail safe mode.

Why I think you should concentrate on FPCU and connections.

Measure fuel pump pressure if examination does not provide a clue. Also changing to a known good FPCU may help in diagnosis.

I think that you are right. I pulled the fpcu out and it had some white corrosion on the terminals. It may have been wet as it has corrosion around the top plate also. I cleaned the terminals up and put bulb grease on them. It is not the right unit for the car since the mounting screws dont line up. But the wiring is the same. I will find a spare and keep it in the trunk.

Keep your fingers crossed

Well it did it again and this time it will not start. I had to trailer it back home. I hate seeing the car being towed :paceing I have to go out of town next week so I might not get to work on it till next weekend. I guess I should check gas pressure first and work from there.
