For clarification I did make a slight error the z20 and z22 transmissions came from an FS5W71B not C type transmission, but it can still be used on the KA with the same bell housing. No those are not 4 speeds from the early Datsun ERA, but rather the 5 speeds that have been built since the decline of the Datsun name in the early 80's.Just for your information here is the complete transmission guide for Datsun/Nissan with gear ratios..

The shorter mounts regardless of hiegth will promote a better center of gravity for a light weight chassis car. Regardless if it fits with the hood closed, I would doubt that strut bars would be implemented with the stock mounts and hiegth, I myself having an s13 with stock heigth can barely fit strut bars in my engine bay.Electric fan would be better in any situation since it carries very little degredation loss compared to belt driven.
