i got my se hatch last week, i'll get pics up asap i've just been busy doing transplants between the 4 haha

well heres the problem, i charged up the battery, everything works. alarm, windows, locks, wipers etc.. the issue is that the ignition seems to be in the "on" position all the time.

you know, when the check engine and oil lights on the dash come on and all that. another thing, i have constant power to the windows with the key out of the ignition also. i can roll em up and down.

the hatch im currently driving has a similar problem. with the key in the "acc" position the dash lights come on and theres a relay that clicks under the hood. i've checked it and replaced it and it still clicks. i noticed today that only sometimes will i get the door chime, soo...

im mostly concerned with the se's problem obviously. im thinking it might be the ignition switch, otherwise i dont know what it could be. any help to my new project will be much appreciamated

seems you have a ghost in the machine under your dash man....if your staying in acc at the ignition..i would change that out and see if it fixes your issue..there not to bad to do..if ya can relax while doing it:)..if that dosent do the trick..then your on the hunt for that elusive mouse...you will need some sort of electrical probe and ohm device...good luck.and keep us posted.

I didn't have an issue, but when I was doing some maintenance checks I noticed my wiring harness was starting to get chewed up from the tire, when we went to repair it, if you jiggled the wires relays would start making noises.

Is your car lowered? check your wiring, its definitely something that is a result of bad wiring.

yeah my first idea was to swap ignition switch assemblies with my black hatch since i know it's good. then tonight, i figured since im going to have to yank the motor out of the se hatch, i could swap over my other wiring harness if i need to, but that sounds like a pita..

the se hatch shell is lowered, which has the 'on' without the key problem. my other one, my daily for now, is completely stock, relay clicks but doesnt get hot or anything.

oh some new info on the above daily driver. i swapped in my old cd player and it kept cutting off for some odd reason. i found the culprit to 'supposedly' be the "light" fuse (dome light etc) ??? yeah.. and also, on the bottom right of the interior fuse box there is supposed to be an "electronics" fuse. well, there was no fuse there, and from what i could see, nothing in there like it doesnt even use one.

it is a ka24e, my first single cam, so maybe they dont use them, but dang. also the speedo doesnt work.. well, it works occasionally but reads way off. sometimes it wraps all the way and pegs the dash, sitting still. sometimes i'll be going around 30mph and it'll show about 50mph and other times it will just stick and wont move at all.

i've heard the single cam ka's have an electronic sensor inside the transmission or something like that, i dont know. but i think the ka24de has wires and such if im not mistaken, because at one time i considered cutting out the speed limiter.

well, i'm gonna look at it tomorrow and this weekend. hopefully seeing all these nice antiques and hot rods for Cruisin' the Coast will motivate me to get the se going before winter.

oh, just one more thing before i hit the sack tonight... i havent looked up anything yet but, what'd be yall's take on pulling the head and replacing the valves on my ole twin cam?

man i wish i draw or something to show you guys how bad the valves are.. about 1/4" from head of the valve to the bottom of the cam lobe. i'll just take a pic.. jeez i gotta stop typing, alrighty then im .. _-_zzz

I know what you should check!!! If you replaced the radio, or did anything behind there, check to make sure all the wires are hooked up right, the ground is grounded out right and make sure you don't have your main power for the radio hooked up to the acc line, that will cause your car to stay on constantly. Im sure thats what it is. i hope for your sake, if not, you have alot of wire to track down!

there's actually no radio whatsoever in it right now. however it does have an aftermarket alarm.

im gonna check things out tomorrow. thanks for the advice guys, every little bit helps, i wanna get this thing on the road asap!!

..hey wait a minute! if i can find where the power window's are getting constant power from then .. hmm ..or wait, isnt there a type of fuse or something on the + terminal going off to the fuse box under the hood? eh nevermind me im just brainstorming on the keyboard, at least if i forget what i'd thought of i can come back on here and look

alrighty.. well, i started from the top, took my ignition switch out, and then disconnected it altogether, and still having the same problem.

checked all the relays under the hood, in the driver side footwell, every fuse, even disconnected the alarm system.. still to no avail..

i may just go ahead and swap motors and just take it to a shop hell i dunno. i can wire up anything aftermarket, in-dash flip-outs, navigation, neons, strobes, led's, any lights, push button starts, and build a sound system out of nothing.. but this? this is just
