So i was on my way home tonight...i looked back in my rearview mirror. I notice I am trailing grey smoke... i made it home, upon turning off my ebnine in the garage I notice a splashing sound....oil is leaking all over my garage..its like theres a hole underneath the engine letting the oil out..I have no engine warning lights that went off-but I know there is a problem. I started the engine-alas no oil pressure I hope I did not do permanent damage to my engine( iwas running full synthetic) when an engine is out of oil, will it still smoke? or is the smoke coming from the oil hitting the exhaust? I cant take the car in until Monday. Help to anybody that knows what is going on? I had an oil change about two weeks ago. If it was a loose oil filter it should have happened sooner. My garage is a mess and my car is out of comission

alas it was a missing drain plug that caused all this. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO A JIFFY LUBE-they did not install my drain plug securely..I hope I did not do any engine damage...i shut off the car before the car was completely out of oil

cant belive it...even franchise owned service stations suck arse (JIFFY LUBE YOU SUCK)

The smoking is probably coming from leakage around a hot area and more than likely the exhaust. You mention an oil change recently and I hope this is not the culprit but I bet it is. It is easy for so called techs to not replace the drain plug or filter correctly (cross threading) and causing the oil to leak out rapidly when it becomes hot. If this is the case and the dealer did it, they will have to replace the engine. If you took it to one of those lube joints it can become a painful lawsuit. Keep us informed and hope you come out of this ok. Well, as soon as I posted this I saw your own reply and I was right. Jiffy Lube has always had a bad rap for selling crap for parts you dont need. There was recently a video on them on national TV out in the LA area for chargeing customers for parts but never installing them. Under cover TV aired it months ago. Good luck with it.

This is the reason that I do all my own oil changes. Years ago my neighbor expereinced the same situation and I decided to do all my own oil changes from that moment on. I know that must have been a nightmare to see all the oil coming out. Good luck on this.

Jiffy is a large company and will replace the engine had it been damaged, they did me this way on a company car years ago. Good deal on no damage. Mine gets the lube from the dealer. Is as cheap as the minute lube places and the large rubber cover under the engine can pose a problem to the quick lubes.

Some punk kid that changed your oil probably did it on purpose, or impacted it to work faster and cross threaded it or even stripped clean out. I don't take anything to anyone but NTB and only because i have close friends that work at 3 different stores within a mile radius of my home, but no one touches the Z but me, Full synthetic Mobil1. Thats the way to go......

Also check your transmission fluid, a lot of noobies drain some of the transmission fluid because they are retarded and don't know what an oil pan looks like. Those places hire anyone! If you can drive, they hire you, or if you at least have a bus pass......

I wholeheartedly agree!!! I had the same thing happen at a Santa Barbara, CA Jiffy Lube. Luckily, my oil light came on as I was pulling away from the parking lot and I went right back in. I NEVER, EVER go to JiffyLube. Crappy lube! I always go to the dealership where I know the service guys.

Sorry it happened to you. Please post the end result if you do confront them with this. I would be PISSED!
