Let me see if I can make this thread interesting....

The owner of a 350z shop here in dallas was telling me that the convertible Z is a better handling car. Has anyone heard this?

i wouldnt doubt it for a second. most fat people buy the coupe which affects handling. The guy who told you must have been extra fit.

I don’t know if the convertible Z is a better handler as I’ve never driven one but I do know that in order to meet safety requirements that extra welds and internal supports were added to stiffen it up. That’s one of the reasons that it weighs more. Without the extra support and without a roof, like the coupe, it would be pretty flimsy. Maybe the stiffer frame and body makes it a better handler.

Maybe the vert Z handles better due to a lower center of gravity? I have no idea if that is true or not... He might have been yankin your chain. Usually verts handle worse unless you are like Greg and rip out all the vert equipment.
