my 302 into s13 swap...

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

im baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaack! i always said i will never do another 240 again after i sold my s14. well, this past sunday i picked up a s13 hatch shell thats in really good condition for literally nothing. its just been sitting outside, so im gonna hit it with my high speed buffer here sooner or later. hatch has mad rust because of that shltty foam spoiler, but i will be patching all that up. yesterday i went and picked up a 302 out of a fox for $60 with the full engine harness and ecu. i will be rebuilding this motor for na = 11.5:1 or so, cam, springs, intake, yada yada....

now, this is just the begining folks... i still need to find a t5 transmission. i was reading somewhere that the 302 with t5 sits pretty far up shifter wise. right now im just posting to get info and then youll have some pics.

it also has the double hump oil pan with the sump in the rear. whats the best factory front sump setup i can get?

thats pretty much all i have for right now. btw, im going fuel injected with it. no easy way out for me. this car is being built strictly for the track. ive gotten way too many tickets within the past 8 months including a night in jail. im doing this for me. im going fully function over form...

i still dont know what to do with the exhaust... i was thinking of having 2.5'' off the headers and Y them together into a 3'' n1 to not give it away so easy for the days i do drive it on the street. that or some turndowns...

any feedback/info/links would be appreciated.

I posted about the extending the trans in the other 5.0 swap thread but it must have gone unnoticed. Anyhow, here's the link for you non searching types. http://merkurencyclopedia.com/....html

It basically details how to swap on a GM t5 tail housing onto a ford t5. I think all that was needed was a GM mainshaft, shifter, and tail housing.

thanks for that link... i remember reading about what you said on using the gm tail housing. just dont know exactly where i saw it at.

change of plans after one day of thinking LOL. this 302 will be boosted by a single snail . for now im just gonna put a b303 cam in it, lightened flywheel, clutch, and try to get the stock headers to work. just so i can get it running and get going sideways yet once again. pics will be coming soon as soon as i move into my new house = next week. cant wait!

I really liked your S14...sorry you sold it. The S13 302 will be really fun with a turbo. Just keep her at or under 450whp and you'll be fine. After that the block loves to crack right down the middle.

You may want to look into twins as well, so you can simply flip a set of summit headers and weld on two T3 flanges and call it a day.

yeah i havent really looked to far into turboing it yet... but im going with a single for sure. it shouldnt be too hard to set it up. i was going to do what you said with flipping the headers and just have them merge into a t4 flange

this should be of some help with your turboing needs. they have probably the best f/s section too. lots and lots of turboing goodies for really good prices.

good luck with the project, i just got my sbc coupe project to the point where i can drive it, i get a sick satisfaction hearing a v8 rumble from my little s13. its neat.

Turbopeople.com is also another decent resource...I do frown on off site linking, but perhaps we can bring some really good info back to Nico.

alright it took awhile for the pics, but heres the beginning of the project. first thing i did was rip that foam spoiler off to see just how much rust was underneath. there was ALOT. and look at what the dumba$$ses used to repair it LOL. chickin wire and body filler . you can see the 302 just sittin there awaiting a t5 and front sump setup so i can start mocking things up. what i did in this day was clean everything out of the car, completely stripped everything (full intact harness', panels, clips, heater core, blower motor, all that good stuff yada yada...

good luck a thousand times on the project! i love this little community we have sprouted here. so many other places frown on such activities so fervently, its so refreshing to have a so called "home" for our blasphemous automotive doings.

bravo gentlemen. mine starts to life tomorrow.......

if i can find the link, ill post it, anyhow i remember a while back seeing a fox body twin turboed (i believe it was blow through carb also) and the kid used a muffler as a carb hat. and it worked well......cant wait to see more of that sort of thing.....and im secretly working on some nico hybrids stickers with a friend who does vinyl and screen printing. any ideas?

/thread jack. again good luck on the ba$tard j-z

oh i almost forgot, my exhaust (until im turboed) will be 2.5 from the headers to qtp e cutouts, then to single 3 inch to probably apex muffler or something to that effect, maybe dual slash cut long tips on a healthy angle.

just dont do "traditional" dual exhaust, it looks goofy (i mocked up some tips for visual reference, it looks like goat poop.) keep it traditional japanese outside and whatever works for you elsewhere. its all about looks right? lol.
