At very low rpms, my 300 makes a cricket like whir sound. It kinda goes away when the car warms up. I think it's the clutch rubbing against something. The car drives fine though, shifts great. Any suggestions would be great.

Maybe its the throw out bearing. Did you jsut install a new clutch?

I second the throwout bearing noise, but would need more information.

Does the noise change at all when the clutch is depressed?

it makes the noise if it's depressed or not, and no I didn't just install a new clutch. Say if i'm slowing down and i release the gas a little, when the rpms get lower it makes the noise.

I have the same thing, happens when I hit bumps too and is definately not anything clutch related, I changed everything between my engine and my transmission and its still there.

This may sound stupid, but can you feel the noise at all? Like in the body, the throttle or clutch pedal?

I was really trying today while driving, but I can't say that I feel anything.

Does it sound like a ticking noise? Because my car is making that sort of noise in the same situations. Like when I let off the gas and when I stop accelerating.

yeah exactly, if you know why it's making that noise. If it's bad which i assume it's not good. Although when I first bought my car I went to a reliable mechanic and had it checked out and they said nothing was wrong with it.

I remember looking at a post this past week about the same thing as well, I just don't remember the title. The other guy mentioned power loss and someone responded that he was running on 5 cylinders. The guy checked and sure enough he was, I'm not too worried since I'm not experiencing any power loss but you can check around for the other thread just in case(I will too).

Alright, hopefully someone looks at this when it bumps.

The noise my car was making is even worse now. It is a lot like what namediesnai said likea whirring tick sound.

When I start the car with the clutch depressed boggy sound comes from under the transmission area until I release the clutch. When the car is in neutral without the clutch depressed there is no sound present, but as soon as I depress the clutch to go into gear the sound starts again. After putting the car into gear and accelerating the sound starts yet again.

Basically, there is no problem as long as the clutch is depressed. The car also runs just fine, no power loss or anything. I cannot feel the whirring from any of the pedals, the steering wheel, or the shifter but I am convinced it is a problem with the clutch or the transmission.

If anyone can offer any suggestions, thanks in advance.

If it's only when you push the clutch pedal in, then I'm thinking it's with the throwout bearing. The bearing itself can wear, causing a noise.

If at some point it does fail, then you're clutchless. Then it becomes much more costly due to needing a nose cone for the transmission, on top of the clutch itself.

Well, my starter crapped out on me now, and after popping the clutch to push start it the car runs fine. Now, I just need to replace my starter

Another thing that I have heard it that if the starter is grinding like mine is, the flywheel could be wore down. Since my car can push start and run just fine this wouldn't be a problem of mine would it???

i just had a whirring noise on my car with a tick/grind noise. it progressively got worse and would lessen when i depressed the clutch until the last 2 weeks i drove it and that didn't make the noise go away. Turned out to be my starter was missing a bolt keeping it away from the flywheel. Put a new bolt in a no more problem.
