Bolted the motor up to the car on Sunday. We used the stock S13 crossmember and the stock Aristo mounts. It was a simple case of cutting the crossmember mounting points down and welding the new plates on for the Aristo mounts to bolt up to. The motor fits like it belongs in the car. The oil pan is flush with the crossmember (Doesn't hang too low) The shifter is about an inch or two foward of the stock hole for the shifter. An S bend will have to be putinto the shifter to make it work.

Note the valve covers are from a GE motor since the GTE's cost $200+ and are kinda hard to find.

Rb25 doesn't compair to the 2JZ. Now the RB26 is a closer compairsion and while it is a good motor, it has it's downfalls. First The RB26 is way overpriced. The older ones have oil drive issues, They are interferance motors, Turbo(s) are one the drivers side that makes DP's a PITA to clear the steering linkage, and did I mention the RB26 is way overpriced?

i like the idea of a J motor in an s-chassis, seems like it would have plenty of top-end power.

id like to attempt a 1jz swap from a mkIII supra into one of my cars.

a JZ is like pizza, you really cant go wrong with it

fanboys be damned, it is arguably the best production 6-cyl to come out of japan

and a 2JZ is a 3.0liter, both 1J and 2J (2.5 and 3.0 respectivly for those who didnt know) come with parallel twin turbo for instant boost. You can hit the 400whp mark with very little in the way of mods (realistically intake, exhaust and boost control-engine management will get you there)

+1 for the 2j swap

did you have to bang out the trans tunnel at all? (R154 transmission im assuming?)

I know on my cressida when i do a manual swap i will need to make room for the bellhousing, is it the same on an s13?

Badass swap! Good job on going out on a limb and being a bit original. I am sure it would be easier to get parts for that motor compared to the RB, or maybe I am just talking out of my ***. Good job either way.

wow, just checking out prices to see the difference. Complete swap for a 1jz TT off ebay is 800 with an auto transmission. rb25 is 3 times that much. wowowow

That's hot man...I'll be getting my jz this week.

The bellhousing he is running is the 1jz bellhousing and R154 transmission(assumption)

Keep us updated man, I may be interested in havin you make some parts if you'd be willing to.

R154 transmission is being used from a 90 supra. I needed the 1jz bellhousing to mate that transmission up to the 2jz motor. For ECU I am using a Tec II. Very simple setup. As for power. I am starting off with stock USDM 550cc injectors and running a 61mm turbo so I would be really happy to make 450 to the wheels. Once things are runnning well I plan to go with larger injectors and maybe a larger turbo and run E85. But gotta take it one step at a time.

I dont underdstand how you guys can hate on this swap. The 2JZ is probably the most bulletproof v6 to come out of Japan. Name another motor that consistantly makes over 1000whp..

The Mk 3 Supra came with the 7M not a 1J bro..the 1J engine was never producded in any car brought to america.

wow. I would love to pull up next to a vette in that thing.

Somehow.. getting the high quality of a toyota engine rubs me nicely, even if it's not staying within Nissan.

It's time to redine what it is that we all truely want.

power, reliability, ease of installation, cost are objective metrics that can win the arguments over subjective metrics, such as I prefer Nissans.

wow

i mean i respect all motors for what they are but many of you seem to neglect that the RB26 is nothing more then an detuned race motor used in Le Mans races and enduro races at the Ring etc...............

nice motor i have done 1j/2j hybrid swaps, and they are awesome but don't down the RB like that.

for originality.......... hes not the first or last

I've also pondered this swap, the power potential in the 2j is tremendous. Keep on posting love to see the final product.

there's one from TX that ran high 8's on the stock internals, he finally blew them up so he's gonna build the car now.

Very nice swap man keep it up! Much unlike the not so nice words towards an RB26 though they can go away . As the owner of a RB26 i would beg to differ that the 2JZ is a better engine, i like them both very much but the sound from the RB is what won me over along with the the ability to become a V8 killer with little o no modifications. Im a Nissan fan myself so i would say you should have taken a RB or a VG30 (what can i say im biased) but its looking awsome.

[Thread jack] Ive heard of a VG30DE (T or TT) in a 240 im not sure who has done it, it seems to be a pretty rare swap. Can anyone tell me how the fit is in a S13: Cutting/relocation crossmember, shifter location, Ect ect.

i cant understand everyone turning their nose down at this.

as far as im concerned, i would take a supra over a 240 any day and i think i speak for many when i say that.

i own a 240sx rb20 swap and although i love the 240 for what it is, the rb20 will never match a 2jz.

why not have the tried and true S chassis and the tried and true 2jz. its not rocket science.

at the end of the day although some may say its blasphemous or sacrilege, we all want a nice clean looking and fast car. whatever swap and body takes you there, more power to you.
