Well, i bought the car down in NJ yesterday for 1k..My plans are to work on it a bit, like a long term project i suppose. It runs fine besides the play in the clutch pedal, and the little pinging sounds from the front area of the car (sounds like if you put a few nuts and bolts in a coffee can and shake it) not so sure what that is. Also the hood hinge support bar area needs to be fixed, need to find a new one of those. Only one bulb is working behind the gauges in the dash..the previous owner put a KM/H cluster in it..Has hood pins on the stock hood because of the hood latch problem which im rly not a fan of the pins..Interiors clean though. Rusting a bit below the driver side door, and the drivers side frame rail =/..definitely gonna have to get that taken care of. We'll see where this ends up. First thing on my list is to figure out that ping noise..

Dented roof..is that panel removable and replaceable??

Hmm after researching for a little bit, ive came to the conclusion that the pinging noise is the timing chain, or guides..If i bought a complete kit with the chains guides and sprockets, would i be able to replace all of them without pulling the motor?

All you have to do is remove the chain guides by taking off the cam sprocket cover

Yea, i read about that. But i don't know the maintenance record of the car, so i figured id just get it all done so its sound.

The timng chain is supposed to last the life of the engine. Pull the valve cover and the top portion of the front cover. Both timing chain guides are to be removed.

Congrats on the purchase!

Ty ty, so i shouldn't do a timing job? and should just remove the guides? Also could i seal that with some RTV Silicone? or should i get a while new gasket and such?
