I bought the 240sx maybe 2-3 days ago, never had any problems until earlier this morning. I started it, it started real rough then the RPM jus dipped and the motor died on me. I tried starting it again but as soon as it sparked it just died. I waited maybe 5 minutes started it again, and it caught, until 5 seconds later the RPM dipped again and it died on me. I started it for the last time and revved it to keep the RPMs alive, after revving it for 6-10 seconds, I let go and the RPM idle was fluctuating anywhere between 500-1000 RPM. But it never died. Since then, I would turn off the car and turn it back on every 5 minutes, and it would start everytime, but the idle would again fluctuates between 50-1000 RPM. At least its not dieing on me. I would really love to fix this, any ideas?

replace both heat temperature sensors on ur engine. that causes bad idling and even bad gas milage. if its the KA motor, it should be right in front of your face where the intake manifold is. its two sensors that are next to eachother. if its the SR, its under the intake manifold and you'd have to use an extension to get there. good luck.

Try cleaning out the IACV and and MAFS, see if that helps.
