my 240sx ford 302 engine changes (lots of pics)

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

89 crown victoria next to 97 explorer pump89 crown victoria next to 97 explorer 5.75" and about 3.75" tall89n crown victoria aluminum97 ford explorer 85 cast iron heavy pos!

they all pretty much bolt up the same except the explorer pump. explorer pump is $70 also requires timing cover which is i believe $82 the 85 crown vic iron pump is $35 and the aluminum is $56. you would obviously need the pulley for the pump and a different sized belt. hope this helps someone.

you can only go with an explorer that has the 302. the older explorers only had the 4.0 until i believe 96 or 97. the openings on the water pump ports are different. i dont remember the part # for the 97 explorer timing cover but its $81.99 for now this is the only help i can give to anyone. im going to try to use the stock exhaust manifolds from a fox body mustang. there like the hugger headers. there real cheap everywhere. tomorrow i will be pulling the motor and trans out from the donor car. (85 crown victoria) when i get my mounts made i will take pictures of everything. might be a couple weeks though. if anyone would like me to try anything just let me know i will try to get you helpful answers.

stang headers dont fit and the shorty headers from cougar dont fit too. they hit the steering bar... u need a left header that seems to be similar to chevy truck header =) maybe this will help you !.

it will all go into the car hopefully this week sometime. will just have it suspended by the hoist and jack so the mounts can be tack welded. they will be tack welded and than test fitted and if everything is perfect, they will be taken out and fully welded. trans im going auto. car is completely gutted. and i dont like where the shifter sits on the manual. car was originally an auto and it would cost more for me to do manual seeing as i would need a new tranny and all that. im doing with what i got. when it all comes out in the end im hoping to have this done for under 700 tops. got the car for $100 no motor no trans. got the complete 302 swap for $150. i let it run for awhile before i even started taking it out of the crown vic. all my welding, bending, and fabricating is getting done free. i just have to pay for parts. i will be taking alot of pictures when i get started. i will post up what i spend on what as well. next thing i need to do though is to bring my car to the storage unit. than the motor will be set in for mounts to be made.

the only thing i need yet besides a driveshaft is a shifter and maybe a shift kit. i will have to see where things are at for a shift kit but it would be real nice. i might just cut and weld a shaft. im going to look at some options today while im working.

what did you do for suspension? is yours stock still or? i have stock struts with eibach lowering springs. ill see if they will work nice or not. i wish i had money to get a coilover set...

here in mexico, labor man or time labor its very cheap. i dont know how much it cost to you in usa.

i dont have my headers yet and its a long time i swap to this engine. you maybe done it faster than me because i start with no help and no guide.

dont worry, its not to expensive if u had a good friend who know welding.

all thinks needs to be custom so price will rise.

thats how she sits as of now. still need my mounts made. the tint is coming off and im putting new tint on. car is going to be lowered a few inches sometime aswell. this car i was going to keep stock but the other car i have is way to rotted underneath. so this one gets the 302. the rear diff is coming out and getting welded. the 302 is going to be getting a complete tune up and new gaskets. thats all the updates i have as of now. need more money. hate being poor!
