Hey, here are some problems I am having with my 240, and I need to know what yall think I shall do. I got a 96 240SX SE.

1) My car wont start. The battery wasnt tied down, and it seems the clap is just too loose. So im guessing i need to buy new clamps. But theres a small red box next to the clamp, and Im wondering if I can damage it.

2) My windshield is starting to crack, in 3 different places. All from little stone chips. One has lines that are about 2 inches long, the others dont have lines yet. Should i call glass auto repair guys (i dont even know the price) to come fix it, or should i forget about it and buy a new one soon(how much?), before i have to go get inspected.

3) I need new rear struts. I am not sure of cost, but should I go OEM or aftermarket. I dont care about which handles better, im concerned with price. Also, is it a job my pops and I can do, or should i get it done at the shop.

4) The throwout bearing on my clutch is very worn, i need a new one. My dad says we can do it, and replace the whole clutch while we are at it. About how much will it cost us to do it, compared to a shop. The clutch seems like way too much work for us to handle.

Thanks, i dont mean to sound do n00bi-ish but i need the help.

1.) Clean the terminals and make it so that the battery isnt going anywhere2.) Honestly ... just get a new windshield. 3.) KYBs are a tad better than the stockers... its a very easy job to do. 4.) You dont wanna know what people charge for clutch jobs... do it yourself... its not too hard of a job.

2. a new windshield depends on where you get it from and if it is new or used. most insurance complanies will cover it i believe. the S13 windshields with HUD on them i remember being quite pricey though

4.clutch job quotes will probably run from $300-500. do it yourself, you can do it in less than 6 hours. the only hard part is getting the input shaft lined up right. just keep pulling it out and put it back in rotating it slightly until it slides right in, dont force anything!

Exhaust is easy. Don't let him fool you on the clutch though, it is a pain in the a**. Since your dad has done clutches before you guys should have no problem, but don't expect the transmission to slide in right the first time.

My dad and I replaced my clutch in about 4 hours plus I didn't know what I was doing and it cost about $100 or less (OEM clutch)

One of my dad's workers just the other day called an auto glass shop to have his winshield replaced. It was only going to cost $212 to do his. If you get a winshield with the tinting at the top it will cost a lot more. Just do tinting after. Its probably to late now but if you ever get another broken winshield call your insurance company. I know here in florida if you have collision coverage and you claim it the day it happens the insurance company pays for the hole thing with no extra month rate increase.

Thanks, you gave some reallu good advice. I did call and they said 226 to replace it, parts and labour. not too bad at all. But yeah, i only have liability, so i dont think insurance will cover me.
