Put your key in if its makes a sound out back then the fp is fine. Also check your distributer, plugs, cap, etc. Would help if you told us a little bit more about the car.

Get a spark tester. It allows you to physically see if you're getting a spark. Also you said that you sprayed starting fluid in there and it kinda felt like it wanted to start i'm guessing. Trying making sure you are actually getting fuel. Yes the fuel pump might need replacing but if that doesn't fix the problem then i would check how much fuel pressure you are getting.

Check any blockage in your air filter. Check if anything is unplugged. Sometimes a simple connector unplugged will not allow the vehicle to start.

Check your dis. Set your motor to tdc pull the cap off the rotor should be facing straight forward (towards the radiator). Get a spark tester idk if you have harbor freight around you but I looked at one yesterday for 3$ there. Also check your coil pack. Alot of people forget about those. The only plugs on the motor that will stop the car from running is (1.distributor 2.fuel injectors 3. Coil pack and rely next to it) it'll run with all the other plugs undone just not well. Also make sure the injector plugs aren't mixed up. And make sure that there aren't any vac lines unplugged. Idk if your a smoker but if so or have a buddy do it take off the air box plug the throttle body with a can of spray paint of something and tighten the coupler down and blow smoke into the aicv tube (s shapped one that connects to the intake near the throttle body it goes to a hard metal pipe that runs thru the intake under the runners. If you blow smoke in it and you see any with the throttle body plugged you know you have a leak.
