i just have a quick question about my 92 240sx....

i just did a ton of head work on the car and i put everything back together, and when i was setting the distributor i used the write up on nicoclub....i set the number 1 piston to TDC and aligned the rotor and plug wire for the that cylinder all perfectly...so i tried to start the car and it wont fire....it has gas and compression and all the plugs and wires give spark....so im assuming my timing is off

i was just checking to see if i should be using the stock 20degree advance timiing, or if the TDC timing that u talked about is supposed to work or not....

also i have platnum plugs and i think it just has 87 octane in now if that helps anything

ThanksJosh

Was the piston at TDC on the correct stroke?

Remove plug #1 and put your hand over it so you can feel the piston push out air. Thats the right TDC

And 5 degrees before TDC is stock timing.

20 degrees is you can do it with 93 octane and it works wonders 87 might = boom. Bad boom.

yea its on the right stroke...when the crank is on the second notch ( TDC ) the #1 piston is in the compression stroke...all cylinders have compression, fuel, and spark...i just dont understand why it won't fire....

are u sure 5 before tdc is stock?...this is what i found...http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=161707

should i try setting it to that setting?...the 20 one?and ill throw in some 93 octane...
