My buddy just got an 88 supra, in pretty decent condition. 3.0L Inline 6. I was talking to freind about it, and he's convinced his supra (stock) would kill my 240. Now both are stick, but mine is a DOHC w/ Intake/cat-back exhaust and a very slightly slipping clutch (only on a hard launch in first).

Personally, I think the match would be pretty even. But I really know my car, and his is new to him, so I think I'd take him.

Any opinions?

Nick.

If you're a good driver and he sucks you have a chance, but i'm pretty sure in most cases a supra should be able to take a 240 :)

u can use this site to get stock hp and tourqe (at the crank) for almost any car from 82 and up.

it also has the weights of cars, along with other info.

I actually have both of those cars at my house (my old car was an 88 Supra!), and I felt like my Supra was slow and losing response, so I bought my S14...I'm pretty sure you can take the Supra. If you get a good launch, I'm pretty sure you can take him.

I took a supra turbo of that model year by about a fender. So I'm pretty sure you can take an NA car pretty easily.

The N/A's are pretty poochy because of there weight, but if it is a turbo, it should keep up fine. When i had my 89 240SX, and my bud had his 89 Turbo Supra (both stock) we were pretty much dead even he would pull veyr slightly. When we installed an Intake, downpipe, and catback on his supra, he would kill me. it was like i was standing still!Tyler

I don't know your mods, but a gsx eclipse is 210hp and AWD. I think that would beat most 240sx's.

I got a friend with a blown TA, that is one fast car, too bad it breaks on him so often. Hope you have had better luck then he has.

I believe the non-turbo Supra was something like 170hp or something, but its also around 3300 lbs. Beat it and tell him to go buy a turbo.

My friend has an N/A 87 300zx. Needless to say after I drove that I ended up buying 85 300zxt. The difference was night and day.

yeah... and the CBR driver was really racing you..... um yeah ok.. oh wait... "out ran" a CBR... did he run out of gas? I'm just playing with ya.... but unless you're over 350 HP I doubt you would beat ANY bike over 250cc in a REAL race.

i know they have problems why do you think i own 3 nissans. for real though i have had a few electrical problems like my power window motor and my headlight motor ( i felt like such white trash driving around a trans am with one light up ) but they are powerfull i can lay a patch about 5 feet long in my car while shifting into third ( about 72mph)

V6 mustangs aren't that slow. One took my Stock 95.. Well, we didnt get an even start but I at least didnt pull till about 85mph. I think I might have won in the 1/4 but those V6s aren't as much of a joke anymore (the new v6 stangs). And the V6 camaros would rock a 240.
