Bought my engine a little over a year ago and have been building ever since. It runs great, rides smooth, and its pretty damn fast. I havnt been pushing it because I still havent figured out how to get my speedo and tach working, not to mention those stupid auto seatbelts arent working. I only problem Im seeing is that Im over boosting. I put in a manual boost controller, I think its minimum boost is higher than 10, cause its all the way out and Ive hit 13 psi before. Thanks for everyones help on the car!

lsauto.com sells a speedo and tach that are already converted to work witht he RB. You can convert them yourself, but if you are lazy like me this is a quick fix.

Funny thing is, I had the LS Auto tach and speedo, but neither of them are working. Im beginning to wonder if the cluster is messed up, because I bought the whole cluster from a guy who parted out his RB project. The only gauge that seems to be working is the fuel gauge. Id love to have that enginetemp working.

In other news, I forgot to turn my fans on today and put a good size crack in my radiator lol. Ive had a Koyo sitting in the garage for months but I never got around to putting in cause it isnt gunna fit without some ,major notching, but I guess Im putting it in now lol.

Have you looked into purchasing speedo and tach signal interfaces? Seems like an easy install to me...You can also readjust the speedo if you put in a different rear differential.

I need something cause this tach has really got me stumped. Every gauge is out and I just dont know why. Worked on it for hours today, with a new aftermarket tach and got nothing.

I had the same promblem with my cluster after the swap and it turns out it wasnt grounded properly, check your wiring perhaps?

Boost sounds normal depending on mods...

Yeah my RB20 is boosting 10psi too. I was a little worried. Is it just because of exhaust and intake making things more efficient? I have a frontmount and exhaust and intake.

Modest, I wouldn't worry if you think you are boosting to much at 10psi. When I ran my first swap which was also a 20 in a S13... I ran stock skyline dp and bolted it up to the stock exhaust system and got 10psi boost. The only real modification vs stock on that swap was a pod filter. More or less you are right about the efficiency, the more you free up the path between the turbo and the motor you will make more boost... and as you create a higher change in pressure across the turbine wheel (bigger/free flowing exhaust... you will spool faster and boost more efficiently.

If you want to try an experiment... tap your boost gauge into as close to your turbo as you can... and then put it the normal pickup on the manifold. You will see how much of a pressure drop is being caused by your plumbing system.

I thought 10 PSI was stock boost? James said that hes seen mine hit 15 PSI, and I see 13 more often than Id like. Ive never heard of anyone else running so much boost on the stock turbo. Im worried about blowing a head gasket or worse.

I was implying that 10 is stock... but I have seen 12-13 (depending on outside temp) with only a pod filter and a FMIC. I wouldn't worry about 12-13 to much, but 15 for long periods could eventually blow your turbo. You could always put a RB25 actuator on yours and be limited to much less (I am only boosting .5 bar with pod filter and fmic right now) then add a boost controller to up it to where you like... but it's not really needed.

what about the RB25 stock psi?, my mods are Greddy intake and fmic and mckinney down pipe, megan test pipe, and 3'' tanabe exhaust, I was running 7 psi but my friend installed a manual boost controller tonight and we turned it up to 11psi, is that safe?
