WELL I MAY NO LONGER BE A 240SX OWNER ANY LONGER. HERE GOES THE STORY. SO THE KIND BROTHER I AM TO MY SISTER I TAKE A ROAD TRIP DOWN TO HER SCHOOL TO HELP HER MOVE HER STUFF INTO HER NEW PLACE. IT WAS ABOUT THE 3RD TRIP SO MY CAR IS LOADED WITH STUFF AND I PULL INTO THE DRIVEWAY WHICH SOMEWHAT RESEMBLES A HILL. SO I PARKED PUT THE EBRAKE ON TURN OFF THE CAR AND UNLOAD ALL THE GOODS. WHEN FINISHED GOT BACK INTO MY CAR AND SURE ENOUGH THE DAMN THING WOULDN'T START. IM THINKING IN MY HEAD OH GOD, 150 MILES AWAY FROM HOME!! IT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS TURNING OVER BUT HAD IT TOWED TO THE SHOP AND I HAVE NO COMPRESSION IN TWO CYLINDERS. APPERENTLY THE GUY SAYS MY TIMING CHAIN BUSTED AND I COULD BE FACING SOME BENT VALVES ALONG WITH SOME NICKED UP PISTONS. THIS REALLY SUCKS I LOVED MY CAR AND NOW I MIGHT HAVE TO SAY GOODBYE. THE THING THAT REALLY SUCKS IS THAT I HAVE AN ENGINE AT HOME TO INSTALL IN IT BUT JUST DON'T HAVE THE TIME TO DO THE SWAP. JUST THOUGHT YOU MIGHT WANT TO HEAR MY SAD STORY ABOUT MY CAR.

well first off you didn't need to do it in caps.

Anyway, don't be a drama queen and thinking its the end of the world becuase your motor blew. Motors are a dime a dozen essp the ka24 lol. So no worries. Its not like you live at your parents house and if you don't have the car running they will tow it to a junkyard or anything....

Where are you located? It should only be about 150 to about 200 for the tow if you don't know anyone with a truck or trailer. A engine goes in in about 4 hours. also just curious how many miles on the engine. Nick

It has 96k but the motor was rebuilt at about 83k. That is what i don't understand how the hell my timing chain broke when it was replaced when it was rebuilt. I guess stuff just goes sometimes. This motor was rebuilt with new everything. Pistons, valves, seals, timing chain, it was honed, hot tanked ETC ETC.. My neighbor who is a machinist actually did all the work. It sucks something had to happen this quick. Yeah i know about the tow, probably around 200 or a little more if using uhaul. Just don't know if it is worth it or not. See my body is a little rusty, just like many of the other ones out there.(Damn zebart) Also a little rusty at the strut towers in the front. So its like even if i fix it, who knows when something else may go wrong. But the car handled so great and am put in a little predicament here. I will know tomorrow for sure what is going on if the valves are bent or if it is just the timing chain. Who knows maybe i can tow it home and have a little project on my hands, but damn i need a car quick. Ill keep you updated on the situation.

I know that you are freaking out right now (I would be too) but just take her head off and let us know what is up. KAs are cheap to get ahold of (hell, I gave away my old one) and swaps are getting cheap as well. Don't lose heart! We are there to help!

Yep valves are bent in at least two of the cylinders, but don't know yet if the pistons are a mess yet in those cylinders. I am assuming they are though and the timing chain is broken. Looks like im gonna pick it up and drive it home they want 1900 or less to fix it.

Get this one haha the damn guy already did the timing chain without my consent. Looks like im screwed again. He wants a thousand for the timing chain and another 900 the two cylinders with bent valves. Man this sucks.

Um, you can sue for that man. Most states have laws prohibiting working on a car w/o consent. Hire a lawyer and get an RB!

You don't have to pay if you didn't sign a form with a quote for the labor. He can't just work on your car without telling you and expect you to pay. You only have to pay for what you have on the receipt he should have given you BEFORE he worked on it.

screw that noise if you didnt sign a quote you dont owe him squat unless you told him to fix it. if there wasnt a verbal contract its his problem. thats very unprofessional. i dont like people who take advantage of others misfortunes. Whats the matter he couldnt pick up a phone. the car probly isnt worth a thousand rotted with 2 blown valves.

sorry to hear that your good engine blew. guy mighta messed up the timing chain install. wasnt there any rattle?

agree w/ all; u don't haveta pay for it.

u can suggest to pull the parts off that he installed before u tow it back home, since u have a spare engine sitting @ home to temp swap it in. When the dumb*** does this, keep an eye on him; to make sure he won't screw your car up as he angrily takes the parts off...

My car's out for the count too <bad transmission bearing/synchros/gears> & actively looking for a replacement manual trans from the NJ area...
