my 240 doesnt get over 3000 rpm

i can be in any gear but my 240sx wont get over 3000 rpm..... it forces me to shift for more power untill i reach 3000 agian and then it just wont get any faster.... it starts backfireing and stalling.. i think its the oxygen sensor?????????

its your MAFS its connected to your intake box, if the car cant read how much air its recieving it puts the car into a safe mode to protect it. check to see if its loose or possibly you might need a replacement one. search around a lil bit that topic has been covered..

Actually, a malfunctioning TPS could do the same exact thing. OR, it could be bad grounding. What does it do if you rev it in neutral? Explain in detail....We've been seeing alot of these issues lately.

w0w..., I have the exact same issue but I have more than just this. Although I have not replaced mine, some people suggested that it is my engine coolant temperature sensor, which I'll be replacing by Monday. I'll let you know how it goes, that way you get an idea of what is/what's not wrong with your car .
