So as the title states this is my brake / wheel install. So i have a 93 240sx hatch. Its a 4 lug and i wanted to go 5 for better wheel options so i decided while i was at it i would go ahead and do the 300zx brake upgrade. I traked down a complete 300zx brake setup with the aluminium 30mm front brakes and the complete rear knuckle with the calipers, rotors,E-brake cables, hubs every thing. i also got the master cylinder as well. So the next thing i orderd was the front 5 lug hubs, stainless braded conversion lines, hawk street spec pads, and Dot 4 ultra high temp brake fluid. I decided to powder coat the calipers as i wanted to do it right the first time. so i went with a black gloss with a polished "NISSAN" logo and then it was cleared. I also painted my new master cylinder black with high temp paint. I used a wire wheel on my rotory tool to clean/polish all bolts and hardwear. The rear calipers were powder coated glossblack and cleard. I have megan racing street coilovers( and before you say it i know not the best but i got them before i started taking my time and doing things right the first time,) Here are some pic's of some of what i had done.

this is a pick of my setup now with the coilovers and not the z brakes.

I ordered my wheels Yesterday enkie RPF1 17x8+35 front and 17x9.5+38 rear with falken 615k tires. And i guess i should give you some back round i have an sr swap with a stock sized turbo at 10psi. Front mount intercooler,3in exhuast, short throw shifter, ACT lightwiegt flywheel and stage 3 clutch, oil filter relocation kit, custom routed wiring harness, turbo timer, aluminium radiator. and some other stuff i cant think of off the top of my head.
It ran a 14:002 with my shi** shi** reaction time of 1.02 sec and first gear will not hook up so i am hoping the wider and better tires will help with that but my goal is't for the 1/4 mile i like the road course more but havent had a chance to run on yet mainly because i'm in the army and its hard to find time to get to the track.

So let me know what you think and any ideas or sugestions would be awesome thanks,

They look like iron calipers.

That is probably because the pic is with them powder coated. But they are aluminum i know from when i grinded of some casting flash. Plus they are light really light. i would say they way less than the stock 240 one's. :chuckle:

pretty coolz. I wanna see pics of wheels with brakes behind them when you get them on.

I'd be dissappointed with a 14.00. Hopefully wider tires, and stickier, will drop that to where it should be.

yeah i was dissappointed with a 14 i was hopping for like 13:5 or so but like i said my reaction time was just bad so if i get that better im allready at 13:5 so i hope with the new wheels and tires and a better reaction time i will be in the low 13's. and ill def put up some picks when i get the wheels. But they are on backorder the wont even ship out till june 24 :frown:

dam that sucks. Owell, thats just gives you a good excuse to burn the tires you have in a short amount of time (burnouts and donuts). I think low to mid 13s is reasonable, just get that reaction time down.

The megans are ok If you want to drift or want to go super low becuase they are so stiff. but for a road racing aplication they are just not the best if they were softer than they would be ok but they just dont allow enough wheel travel.

Has anyone used the DBA rotors im thinking of running them.

Just to let you know your reaction time does not have anything to do with your actual 1/4 mile time, the clock doesnt start until you move. Good luck with brakes

Ok this makes me feel like such a newb. but i did not know this. can anyone confirm this. i just thought that the time started when the green light hit. Thats why red lighting is such a big deal.

Never have, but will when I upgrade to Z32 brakes as you have done. You put the valve inline with the rear brakes. StopTech has a good article (all their articles are good) on prop. valves:

I haven't run DBA rotors, but I hear good things about them. They have temp sensitive paint on the side of the rotor to let you know how much heat you're generating, which is nice.

Just curious, how much does your 17x8 wheel weigh?

they say that they weigh just under 14 lbs. But when i get them i will weigh them(with tires) to see how much they weigh.
but its one of the main reasons i went with the RPF1 is they are so light.

So it's been a few weeks but my wheels should be here next week so I started putting my brakes and hubs on. Here’s a pic of the progress.
Here are the brakes

And here’s the master cylinder.

I used the 300zx parking brake cables and did not like where I would have to bolt them up at to make them work. So I made this bracket to relocate the mounting holes. I still have to finish it up but you get the idea.

Should have pick's with the wheels on middle to end of next week :bigthumb:

Ok so I Finally received my wheels after dealing with some very bad customer service. I will never buy from this place again.(I don’t know the rules on here about using company names so ill leave it out but feel free to PM me and I will let you know who to avoid) But I finally finished my brake and hub swap and the wheels fit with no problems. The rears stick out a little too far but for how wide they are they fit nicely. I also weighed the wheels the fronts weighed in at 40 lbs and the rears weighed in at 45 lbs each. which isn't bad seeing as how the stock steelies weighed 40 lbs each. ( i weighed them on a house scale so im sure these numbers arent totally correct) Here are some pics.

I'm going to trie and get better picks tomorrow but these are what i had. and i no longer have a problem with hooking up she grabs and goes. :chuckle:
