I got rear-ended so hard (no sexual pun intended) that my tail-light almost reached the back seat. I get to have a disk in my neck replaced with a prosthetic thanks to this little adventure.

Do not fear, though, NICO club. You will not lose a member. I have already purchased a replacement car: a 2006 M45 that was very well taken care of And in much better condition than my last car, which had 218k on the clock. This one has only 98k. I’ll post some pics when I can figure out how.

Good to still have you with us... in more ways than one. And I hope you get the medical attention to get you as close as possible to 100%

Was anything salvageable or did you let the whole car go?

Ouch! I hope that you get full attention to the medical stuff with a good doctor. That can be a life-long problem if not done right!

Cars can be replaced ... people cannot.

So sorry to hear abut this, but also very happy that you survived minus the neck injury. I'm sure that driving an M worked in your favor. I know when my M was totaled, the cop told me a lesser quality car might have done me in. Just go slowly and get all the therapy you need. It's much harder to fix a body than a car. Good thought coming your way from all of us.

Thank you for all the good thoughts sent my way, guys. I go into surgery tomorrow. I'm more than a little nervous. It reminds me of the way I feel before I fly.

Here is the old girl: Black, 2007, M45, 218K miles

My insurance company gave me $5800 for her, so I was more than satisfied. I was VERY lucky and found a 2006 M45, black-on-black, with only 98K miles on it. This car is immaculate and obviously was garage-kept. It is in sooooooooo much better shape than my old car. I will actually have to wax this one. No oxidation at all on it, like my old car. The interior looks almost new except for the venerable dash cracking, which I don't give a pewp about. This car also has the navi/DVD/Bose setup, where my old car did not.

The only thing I will miss is the stereo from my old car. It took me a month to install it, then I went through a couple of iterations to end up with Hertz HSK's in front and back doors powered by a PPI P900.4, and a Sundown DA12 in the trunk powered by the RF 1200.1d. I had to let go of some of my equipment, like my output converter and my fuse block because they were tucked away and I just didn't have time to tear the car apart to get them. I am very satisfied with the new car, though.

do you have the heated and recline rear seats in the new car? Also is there any chance you can grab the wheels from the old one?

All the Sports have heated/cooled/reclining seats. My old car is already gone to auction.

It speaks volumes about how much I loved my old car that I would go back to he exact same car. I did get extremely lucky to have this one available only 15 miles from me and in such great shape. The headlights look brand new. I asked the dealership if they polished them and they said they didn’t have to. Clean Carfax, two owners, and all services completed by Infiniti. Can’t go wrong. I’ll still have to do valve-cover gaskets I’m sure, but I ought to be good at it by now.
