I left it at home a week without being here and since I got home and twice my engine won't start and my local mechanic says the computers are saying it is a security issue. Any ideas on what it could be?

Welcome to NICO!

It might be a problem with the passkey system...

Did you check the battery? It may be time to replace.

Yes yes, welcome!

Won't turn over, but all other controls, lights, and dash lights function?if not then...sounds like dead battery since happened after sitting a week.

if everything works, then it could be as Joe mentioned, the passkey system

6MT manual or auto transmission? If 6MT it could be something to do with the clutch sensor not registering and it thinks the clutch is not depressed.

Good luck!

I have to assume by now that you replaced your battery?

One way to test a battery for a weak or dead cell is to put the headlights on and attempt to start the car. If the headlights go very dim or go out and the starter fails to crank the engine you need a new battery.

If after you replace the battery and the problem happens after a few days of no use. You probably have a bad board in you radio/ac unit that constatly runs a drain on your battery when it is shut off. I have a 2003 Sedan, and I cant leave it for more than a day and 1/2 without the battery being drained. If you search through google for G35 battery drain, you will see hundreds of postings with people that have the same issue. There are places that will take the board out and fix it for about $300.00 - I will be getting mine done in the next month. I had to go through about 5 batteries over the years before I read about the COMMON issue. Why no recall?? Your guess is as good as mine. If you have a volt meter, you can test the car when in is off and you will see the draw... Good luck
