I really need help. Single female with no where to turn !

My 2000 G20 stalls when I idle. It just started a week ago and is getting worse. Now, if Im at a traffic light it just sputters and stalls. I dont want to be taken at the shop when I take it in to have it repaired. Any thoughts ?

Sorry, not much to go on. If it's getting worse something is deteriorating. My first guess would be the fuel pump. If you need service Keith Vanmeter is highly recommended. He's in Mantua, not sure how close that is to you.

Daedalus, Im so perplexed..The car drives great until I stop at a light or idling in traffic. I have to keep the rpm's up while in park to keep it from stalling. I hope this is a little more info. I just had the battery replaced and an oil change. Would a tune up help? Do these cars still have a place to set the timing? Maybe its a timing issue? Its such a shame not knowing how to fix a car. But if you need financial help Im your gal. lol Thanks for the help.

Probably not a timing issue, nor related to the oil change. I have seen a bad intermittent connection after changing the battery that caused really weird things, including stalling at idle. Poor connections are really bad cause they can fry the insulation and wire. Feel the battery connections to make sure they're not really hot. Could also be a sign the alt's on it's last legs, but probably not if the car turns over easily. I don't think a tune-up would help (change the filters and plugs?). It could very well be the idle air control as Keith suggested (HI KEITH!). Not too familiar with the Gs, but most cars have a set screw on the idle air control valve that you can undo a bit to let more air in. If it's completely clogged up this won't help though. You can also see if a vacuum leak keeps the idle up--unplug the brake booster hose with the car in park, then see if it'll fire up and idle on it's own. It should idle pretty high. None of these will diagnose a failing fuel pump--best to hook up a fuel pressure gauge to check that.

Those cars are notorious for the air flow meter, that's probably what's giving you the trouble. Brand new you're looking at $384.45, from us at http://www.everythinginfiniti.com. It might be the base idle set screw (needing adjustment) or the IACV, which is $120.35. Tell me, does it stall everytime it idles? Does it give you throttle problems in any other RPM's?
