so let me introduce myself, my name is David, and im 17 years old and from lynnwood Washington, i bought my 89 coupe from an old man for $1300, it was stock with a sohc, i lowered it on coils and put stock 240z rims with spacers on it and drove it like that for about 6k miles and then i realized that the ka24e is gay as f*** and its like driving a turtle, so i sayed screw it, i bought a 240sx hatchback for parts (91, had a complete dohc swap, also im giving it away for free if anybody wants it, has no vin #'s and no paperwork) so we get the motor out with no cherry picker and i swap it onto my car and no compression, so im so pissed off my thought process stopped working, so i buy another dohc for 100$ and i swap it in that same night and it has a terrible knock, so at this point i begin to laugh cause my very 1st motor swap turns into 2 swaps on the same weekend. so i called rick at kami dori and it turns out he is selling his s14 ka cause hes swapping to a LS1, and i got to see it run and he gave me a ride, so i buy it for $300 and i swap it in on friday and finish Saturday night and anyway im fairly proud cause i feel like i just entered a whole new world, i always talked with my friends about swapping motors (we all own 240's and all are sohc) anyway i feel addicted the craving for HP and TQ is getting stronger im already thinking about my next swap

lol thank you, i love driving around with no hood and open headers ( i got to excited and decided to put that stuff on later) and while the motor is out of the car i put a lightweight flywheel in and feels more nimble than a stock dohc, the cool part is that i had no real experience before this, it was me and a bunch of friends taking stuff apart and trying to remember how it when back together, anyway it was fun but im more happy its over and i can finally drive my coupe instead of my bros integra

I guess I'm used to my SOHC that doesn't have a billion miles on it. I like mine.

lol mine has 250k on it, the head was rebuilt at 220k and after i drove my friends sohc with 145k that's what sealed the deal, i had to swap it for something better, his car was bone stock and it pulled twice as hard as my sohc

I predict the single cam will finally get some love once that one guy completes his twin-charged KA-E build...

Hold on to your SOHC's, guys!

I like the SOHC better by looks and sound, not to mention it likes boost as much as the next KA. I hate seeing picture of Single in a trashcan.

im not throwing away my sohc, its my back up, i was just tired of the s*** gas mileage and lack of power, so the ka24de is the easiest swap possible and it was a great learning experience, im a super perfectionist so the swap was done perfect, i even got the A/C in and working, every bolt is were it should be and everything was done right!! i even had my friend solder all the wiring connections and shrink wrap everything, the only thing i haven't done yet is the tach which im doing this weekend along with a few other things, and time for more pics, me and my friend nik, his rx7 is so cool
