Hey Everyone, I have a 1995 300zx N/A. My car was running perfect a few days ago. i got home from work, and then an hour later i went to get in my car and the engine wont turn over. No clicking noise, and the dash lights all come on. including the headlights. I can also hear my fuel pump kick on. Heres a list of the basic trouble shooting things i have done to try and solve the problem.
-i checked the battery, its fully charged ( i even tried to jump start it, nothing)
-i cleaned all the battery cables and ground wire.
-i checked all fuses including relays for the ignition.
-i removed the starter and bench tested it. Spun like a champ. STILL NOTHING!

Now im stuck at a dead end. Does anyone else have any suggestions? Maybe what else i can check? Anything would be great. Thanks :werd:

If its a 5 speed, check the NSS(neutral safety switch)located on the clutch pedal assembly.

If an auto, try and wiggle the shifter or put it in neutral to start

The starter relay located in the driver fender well(this goes for the auto as well).

Another thing to check is the alarm, try and unlock the car from the driver side key hole, outside. Its sounds like its ignition related, just finding what is causing it is the toughest part, all are easy fixes once found.

YOU ARE THE MAN! I just looked down at my clutch and the saftey switch was not getting pushed in because it looks like a bolt or something fell of. I pressed it with my finger and it started right up! Thanks man i appreciate it. Do you have any suggestions of how i fix it so that the switch pushes down when i press in the clutch? Is it a bolt or something?

either get a new switch or cut the wires and splice them together. then you can start it w/o having to push the clutch pedal in. all preference...

PM me your shipping address - I want to mail you some NICO stickers and a NICO lanyard... We really appreciate all the work you put in on the technical posts. Trust me your work hasn't gone unnoticed. :bigthumb:

Thanks Mark!! Honestly, I got some great help from everyone when I first got my car, the best I can do is give the help back to some newbies. Besides I wouldn't mind rocking some NICO stuff around Denver. You have a PM.

Got it!

I put a NICO lanyard, 5 NICO stickers and 2 NICO cards in it, they won't be picking it up until Wednesday.

PS: The lanyards kick a**! :)
