my 1993 240 will not start

no my battery is not dead so please dont say that. advanced says my starter is fine changed out the fuel filter yesterday and clean gas came out of the old one. about 2 weeks ago i chanded out my valve cover gasket and spark plugs but when i pulled the spark plugs they were coated with carbon and it got worse the farther i went back (1,2,3,4). im getting fuel to my engine but when i tried testing the first spark plug for a spark by grounding it to the valve cover and then a srew it wouldnt spark so i'm guessing maybe the distributor cap. i'm really getting tired of sht breaking.

oh my bad it turns over but the rpms never jump

When you say "coated with carbon" what do you mean? Are they burnt and black or dry and gray?

It's hard to see the spark on a clean plug anyway without doing it in the dark...

Try just replacing the cap, rotor, wires and plugs anyway, make sure they're gaped correctly and then try again. If none of that works, its okay. because that stuff probably needed to get done anyway.

Now try your Ignition Coil.

If that doesn't work, then it might be the FPR, but I think you would have noticed some hot-start issues before that.

thanks it did have problems starting before but like i said advanced checked and said everything was good with the starter so i dont know whether full of sht or what

your motor might be flooded from cranking.
