I just got my 300zx N/a a couple days ago and today it was running fine, and then all the sudden wouldnt start. in fact it wouldnt even try to crank, click, turn over, anything. the battery is working fine. all electronics running strong. first thing i tried was replacing the starter relay. nothing. Then i tried disconnecting the security system, thinking that maybe it thought it was being stolen. nothing. then i checked the ECU code and got #13. which makes sense because it was idle funny when cruising. does fine when accelerating. are these issues connected? what should i do/try next??????

Code 13 is a bad engine temp sensor. On these cars, it will stop it from starting.

Get a new sensor, its $20:

Pretty sure when they go bad on our cars, it messes up the ignition timing and can also cause it to flood (the ecu thinks the engine is always cold and dumps fuel)

well i replaced the coolant sensor, and still wouldnt start. loaded it up on the trailor and took it to the mechanic. turned out the clutch was off and the starter wasnt reading it being pushed. now need to replace the brittle coolant sensor housing that broke when i was replacing it.

I haven't been looking at he forums for a while. Glad you ogotit sorted.

FYI T.mcginley.... When these cars flood, you can press the gas pedal all the way to the floor when you go to start it. It disables the injectors so you can clear any flooding issues!
