Start by telling us what deferred maintenance you have corrected first, sir!

Not to thread jack but.......................Is this where we as Q owners have gone? Every week it's another teeny story about how "Oh my gosh, my car just started stalling-smoking-making a banging noise-etc". Do some actually think they can get a guy on the net to fix their problem? And you mention a 3K kitty and they think it's an expensive feline?! Maybe a sticky should be started for the knuckle heads who 1) have no money 2)have no mechanical skills 3) have zero love for a VH! Come on guys, you could give a flying nun about your car-as long as it runs! Buy a kia and leave us alone!Sorry, just venting!

1990 Q45. Is it steam or burning oil from leaky valve covers?

Is your power steering pump groaning?

As Maxnix stated above, what is the service history for your '90?

Do you have a FSM?

On a side note, what is your compression on cylinders 1 through 8?(wet/dry)

A 1990 is 19 years old and historically an average of $2,000* per year should have been spent or about $38,000 on mainteance, replacements, and repairs.

I've spend over $45,000 but I have high standards for electromechanical operation Plus for the past 10 years I've had a 25% discount on parts and access to half priced labor.

If all the work had been done at dealer prices the annual cost might be $4,000 and add up to $60,000.............still only $3150 per year.

Many peak years can easily exceed $6-7,000.

* the first 6-7 years are economical averaging about $1,000 per year, which means the next 12 years runs about $2,500 per year FOR THE AVERAGE OWNER.

There is no escaping these facts if the vehicle is to function well in all non estetic areas.
