I am currently deployed to Afghanistan. I have a 1985 4x4 with the z24 waiting for my return. She sits on 31" mud treads. The previous owner just replaced the top half of the motor and she runs great. I just ordered the materials to snorkel and turbo. I went with a "36 synchro" weber that I plan on putting an extra 5-7 psi into. I also went with the pacesetter header to feed the fan. Is there any other suggestion or experiences boosting the z24? Thanks for your help. [IMG][/IMG]

I got her pretty stuck that day! I thought she would roll for sure. That was in Bragg where they torture 1151s (humvees). That clay is nasty when wet. I would have made that climb if she had the power to clean the tires. Hopefully the turbo system will square me away. I am amazed how capable that little truck is. If I finish it for under 5k I will be happy! Thanks for posting the picture for me. Oh, any thoughts on potential mods will be appreciated. Ability and reliability is all I am concerned with. I want to explore the mountains and rivers in the NC/TN area.

Squatch out.

Get a better fuel pump capable of more that 10 psi and a reliable fuel pressure regulator as you're going to boost 7 psi. You will need about 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 psi to run with that boost but will experience problems at idle until properly tuned. The head bolts will also have to be changed to cope with boost. Any thing else I remember I'll post.

Flinterman, thanks those stretchy head bolts had not yet even crossed my mind! Can you recommend any head bolt kits? As for the fuel pump, are there any direct high flow replacements? I was planning on slapping one of my holleys onto the frame, but it seems like over-kill. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Sorry for the late response, but my computer crashed. I used a high pressure pump from a fuel injected engine and a fuel pressure regulator from MSD which I sourced from a local parts store on my Mitsubishi Galant. The pump output was 45 PSI max and was regulated to 7 PSI at the manifold. Had problems at initial full throttle as boost spiked to 10 -12 PSI on first demand. As for the head bolts I can't say. When the engine was built the bolts were sourced by a friend who didn't say where it came from. It was a Z20 with 4 speed automatic, shift kit in the transmission and 32/36 webber. When I added the turbo I changed to a 34/34 ratchet webber.

That thing is awesome. So how did you cram the 31s under there? Did you just crank the t bars? Love that paint too it looks mean.
