So I'm in my kitchen today eating and all of a sudden this beautiful deep royal blue 2002 Porsche 911 Carrera pulls up my drive way! It just so happens that Porsche 911's have been my favorite cars since I was about 10 (seriously...), and my dad had a new one before I was born, but I never got to see it! So anyway, it turns out that its my friend (who's pretty wealthy,) and it was just his birthday, so I assumed it was his new car! He rolls down the window, and he's like...it was my birthday present! I was absolutely the most jealous you could imagine, but happy that I'd been giving him rides to/from school, so now he could repay the favor in the Porsche. But he soon told me that it wasn't his car, it was his dad's friend's car, and the guy let my 16 year old friend, who just got his license, take the thing out, and in the rain no less! But anyway, it was so awesome to see it up close and personal, and to sit inside, etc. Such a nice small car, surprisingly small, with of course, beautiful 18" rims and crossdrilled and vented rotors all the way around with nice 4 piston Porsche calipers, the dual chrome tipped exhaust, all tan leather, 6 speed, everything. To my dismay, he couldn't give me a ride in it because he was just giving his bro a ride home from a band concert, wow, did that tease me! When he took off, it was one of the sweetest sounding things I think i've heard. A nice and deep, yet at the same time high pitched electric sound--the compilation of 50 years of german engineering in the flat 6! Wow, I will own one of those cars one day! The way I figure it, by the time I'm 30, I'll be looking at like 1995 Porsches for around $25k...not bad, not bad! Just wanted to share this with you, because its been on my damn mind all day!

Looks like your buddy did a good job fooling you.:pface.

Those are very interesting cars. And they are indeed smaller than most people realize.I think the inherent simplicity of the oil cooled one is very interestingI have been watching the prices for used ones in the generation before last (95-99) carefully. Its my favorite generation of 911'sI am like the non-S (too much flares) models the best.

Personally, I love the wide flares of the 95-99's, they look like art to me. My friend said he got the rear end out on the porsche a couple of times unintentionally and that the thing handled like a dream---the brakes worked unbelievably fast he said, and the car had beautiful handling, and got a ton of power past 4000 rpm...and it's not like he's comparing this car to another crappy car he's driven, he usually drives his mom's car (2002 Saab 95 aero turbo...)

a friend of mine is 17 and has a 1997 Supra with single turbo conversion, veilside body, and a custom stereo in the works to replace the already pretty awesome tunes. i do the work on the car seeing as he doesn't know how to work on it, but he wants to learn. the car has put 630 horses to the ground so far. he (his dad) has spent about 80,000 so far, after buying a perfect untouched 25,000 mile supra and then payign to have it built. i did not convert this one to single, but have done most of the work prior. i hope the next dyno will produce over 700 horses, as well it should with the latest mods. anyway, his brother is 15 and has so far had a BMW 330 ci (did not have his license when he drove this one) a 2002 vette and he just traded it for a brand new 350Z in chrome silver. he said he wants me to put the twin t kit on it when it comes out. now, anybody sick yet? if they weren't such good kids, i would be. but they don't act like donkeys at all.

Yes, I can't tell you how much it pisses me off to see rich bastards give their spoiled brat kids beautiful cars, all the while corrupting their kids into selfish snobs, and setting them up for a rude awakening when they hit the real world...Partially, I guess, because my parents haven't paid for a thing!

my brother did almost the same thing your friend did. he borrowed his boss' car (black 2003 mercedes SL500 AMG hardtop convertible [with 486 HP *drools*]) and pulled into the driveway and claimed it was given to him as a gift from his boss. i wouldn't put it past him either.. his boss is the richest guy in town (has a mansion here, one in cocoa beach, a huge yacht, private jet, 2 hummers, a bentley...you know.. the whole "rich guy" deal). he took me for a spin in it and WOW it was nice. he eventually confessed it was his boss' and that he's trading it in to get something more "practical" - ie - another hummer and another bentley. if i only had that kind of money...

DB7:One of very few cars I'd prefer over a 2k2 Q45 w/ Impul body kit.
