My 05 3.5 needs a new clutch and flywheel!?!?

WTF? It is a standard and was not responding quickly at all when I would shift (in any gear) also has 90000 miles ....so I took it in! $1500 later - they say I need new clutch and flywheel is shot - I MAY get my car back tomorrow! SUCKS~

You don't need a new flywheel unless it was severely scored by the clutch. They can typically just resurface it for $35 at a machine shop and slap it back on there. New clutch shouldn't be more than $400 for a high performance unit, so are they saying $1000 in labor? Yikes!

Yea....it sucks! AAAAAAND...just today after getting it back, I was at a stop light and couldn't start....I was in 1st and wasn't going anywhere...so back to the shop I go.

Sounds like they didn't install the throw-out bearing properly or something. Honestly, why would they give you the car back without test driving it? Don't pay them another dime! They already A$$-raped you enough.

You need to ask for your old parts back too btw. If they say they can't give them to you, that's BS or they are installed back on your car already. LOL

The reason for the high price tag is that your car has a dual mass flywheel ($1000) which can not be machined only replaced. Nissan only requires replacement if it has excessive runout, otherwise they say to reuse it. If the clutch did not "chatter" then it should have be ok to reuse.
