The iPod Touch is out already (looks like the iPhone). CostCo doesn't sell it, AFAIK. Both it and the iPhone work with the G37. (I bought my better half the Touch, I have the phone.)
For your purposes, it depends on how much music you own (or want to carry), whether you want flash technology or a hard drive (hard drives are cheaper per GB but have moving parts) and whether you want the ability to surf the web via wi-fi (that's the Touch's advantage).
You can get a 4GB Nano for $150 or so, and 8GB for about $200. For $250, you can get an 80GB iPod Classic, or $350 I think for 160GB. For $299, you can get an 8GB Touch or the 16GB model for $399.
The most cost-effective model, for pure storage space, is the Classic. But if you want to do 'more' than listen to music, you can get the Touch, with 10% of the storage space. The Nano is a nice 'entry level' size, and price. It does everything the Classic does, in a smaller format and capacity.
Good luck on your decision
