just thought I'd share.......

most people do not know I also kinda have a 68 mustang (technically it's my girlfriends) (I bought a wrecked V8 she bought a non running I6 and together we made a V8 car)anyhow I was kinda thinking ahead as I approach my goals with my z and getting back to the mustang and how I'd like to build it. And it's fricken expensive! The big bad AZC brake upgrade with all willwood parts costs $750 which seems like a small fortune to me but I'm a cheapskate, a similar kit for the mustang......$1500! I did the granada disk swap to it years ago as both cars were 4 wheel drum stock but the gradada disks seems barely adequate for such a large car. I also would like to convert to power rack and pinion (both were manual box units) and she has to have power and the front suspension sucks so the complete front end swap is about $2500 hub to hub! I could but 5 datsuns for that! I guess I should just cherrish the time I spend on the Z and feel fortunate that it's not as pricey to build as domestic's

and I thought working on the Z32 was expensive!

Yeah, stuff like that can get expensive. It's the standard go-fast parts (like manifolds and such) that are a bit cheaper...

haha thats cheap for a big brake kit

Quality parts for most cars cost big bucks. It sucks, but hey that's life. Atleast it keeps quality parts off of most ricers cars lol

the ricers will pay more for less, I personally have a thing against greddy, they sell products for absolutely crazy prices, I'd just think that a more popular more mass produced car with mroe aftermarket support (like the Z32 or the mustang) would be cheaper to modify than an S30 but the S30's have proven to be a bargain, I can't imagine having to spend more to modify a heavier chassis

Mass produced? The Z32? Say HUH?????

US Z32 production numbers total just under 90,000 units.

US S30 production numbers total just over 425,000 units.

Heavier? I hope you were talking about the Z32, not the S30. The heaviest S30 (1978 2+2) still came in at under 3000 lbs. The early years, were well under 2500 lbs.

Expense to modify? How about a very basic mechanical straight six vs an electronically controlled V6 with twin turbos. How is the VG30DETT less expensive to modify than the L24/L26/L28?

guess I could have worded it better, the z32 is of course limited production but the aftermarket is huge but overpriced

Bout time you started working on the stang!

A 92 LX 5.0 is about the best Stang to work with IMO.
