i'm thinking about getting a set of mustang wheels for cheap daily wheels. i'll have Z brakes soon so i don't want to get something that wont fit. are there any spec charts out there for all the styles?

Check out the Ford Racing Parts cataloghttp://www.fordracingparts.com...p.pdf

I like the 98 Cobra wheels and the 96 Cobra wheels the best. I dont know if any of the styles will clear Z brakes, but the Cobras come with some pretty large brakes, so I think there's a good chance theyll fit. A member named dekand has the 98 Cobra wheels on his white zenki S14 and they look hot.

The best prices Ive found were from Gene Evans Ford in Atlanta.http://www.gefracing.com/Merch...HEELS

Avoid the knockoff replica wheels cause theyre much heavier and less durable.

z brakes and calipers are kinda tricky, i say do the convertion first then see if the rims fit then buy them ,,

i think i will, but i might get the wheels on ebay or something, so knowing beforehand would help. i decided to make my own spec chart since i can find one. i'll probably post it up here and some mustang forum so it'll be as complete as possible.

i could take a measurement of the caliper when i get home . i know you need at a 16 inch wheel to clear.

What kinda spec chart are you making?

It would be cool if you could share the caliper measurements, then folks could measure wheels theyre considering to see if theres enough clearance. A valuable measurement would be how far the calipers stick out from the hub mounting face.

FYI, I havent seen any genuine Ford wheels on Ebay that can beat Gene Evans prices, but I havent factored in shipping costs.

just an excel sheet with pictures. i'll post it up here if i can figure out how to attach it. any additional info or corrections would help.

i've thought about making a wheel sweep diagram but i need an upright to do it right. that way everyone could just print it out and check their wheels.

A quick NICO search...Says the 99-04 wheels wont clear without spacershttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=124940

Pics of 99-04 GT wheels on a S13, but he doesnt say if he's running a spacer.zerothread?id=137346

98 Cobra wheels; no pics and doesnt say if he's running a spacerhttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=122492

Offset on the 98 Cobra wheels is +31mm (though everyone just says +30). And they were only sold in 98. Thats the only offset I remember off the top of my head, but I have a lot of the specs saved on my PC at home. I'll try to bring them to work tomorrow and add some info.

Nice spreadsheet! I like the way you do your research...

i checked out a set of the 98 cobra wheels and they look like they have a lot of clearance, especially where the caliper sits. i think they will be fine and are pretty much what i want. i'll finish the spreadsheet out of principle, but i think i'm going with those.

Heres a copy of the spreadsheet with a few additions/corrections I made. I think most (all?) 8" wide wheels have the same 5.72" backspacing (which equals +31mm offset). I also believe the 16" GT wheels from 94-95 and 16x8"

I think the 98 Cobra wheels are a good choice. Check out http://www.corral.net, http://www.stangnet.com, and http://www.mustangforums.com if youre looking for used wheels.
