I had just picked up my S13 from the alignment shop with my new tokico suspension on my lunch break and was heading back to work, when an 80's Mustang SVO(?) pulls up next to me and back one car length, and is totally checking out my car. I'm getting through traffic trying to get around the big trucks in Santee when he finally pulls up in the lane next to me. I'm keeping it under boost at this point and wondering wtf he's doing when he finally gets level with me then he is gesturing forward. Now we're still in traffic and people are turning into driveways ahead of me so there was no way I was going to boost it.

He keeps going forward then backing off, and finally we open up into an area where the two lanes are going to be merging about 50 yards ahead. I had no cars infront of me and same for him at this point, and I was tired of this guy egging me on. I dumped it into second and proceeded to dust him long before we made the merge. He caught up to me at the next light and wanted to talk and I found out he was running a 2.3litre turbo. I didn't really feel in the mood to race him, but I didn't exactly like him jerking around me either. Anyway, just posting as I gave him a definite shocker as he never was expecting to hear a BOV come out from my car(he couldn't tell what it was either since I have no emblems).

Kids should listen to engines a bit more. They might learn something.

Nice kill. Those 2.3 Turbos are pretty rare. I think mustangs of all years are my favorite car to **** around with.

It was my first time seeing a 2.3litre turbo ford run. He wasn't bad it had some cajones(more than my 2.4litre N/A believe me), but I don't think his turbo is as big as my T28. Either that or that mustang's a heavy pig(what's the weight of an SVO mustang from the 80's?). I walked him like I had about 50 more hp.

I admit I like screwing around with the BOV cause I get a little giddy hearing it go off, but I don't look for races with it or my vette. Too much risk of getting in trouble with police, and people here drive stupid and the idea of someone getting hurt scares me.

However, this was one of those rare instances, where there was nobody around, and he pushed my right buttons to get me to race. I had to pat my little SR20 afterwards.

SVOs for that year mostly had the turbo motor. Some of the SVOs had a T3 some had a smaller T2. Guy near where I live runs mid 7s in the 1/8th with one of those cars.

I've heard of the 2.3litre turbo being swapped into RX7's, but I have no idea what kind of power they put out, or how well the motor is made.

Still, the guy over-estimated a car that had no emblems, an exhaust, a huge FMIC upfront, and a BOV that is not quiet(even when I shift at like 2k rpms you can tell). Something I never do with this or my Vette. He didn't even know what the weight of his car was(uhh 2000 lbs I think)
