Car: Thinking my friend and I have mechanical skills

Post

I have no illusions, I know I'll get flamed but as long as I get my question answered I don't care. So anyways, hi guys. I just finished up my Sr project on my 240 and am looking for a new one.

With unbiased opinion <-this is the important part

Which is easier to build up a Mustang GT or a 300zxTT

by easier I mean most hp for the money. I mean you can upgrade he turbos on a 300 and supercharge a gt for about the same price. I'm just not sure what else goes with that. I mean does the 300 need upgraded injectors and MAS, upgraded intercooler and new ecu like the 240? Does the mustang?

Also, the big question to what miles is a Vg30dett good for. Yes, I realize that it all depends on how well they were taken care of, but how well do they hold up? When is it worth swaping in a new one? xxx,xxx miles? Thanks boys, You can make fun of me later as long as you answer my question Scott

1) TT motor will drop into 2+2

2) Mustang GT will be easier to build up, everything costs double on the Z. Twin turbos, twin intercoolers, twin everything.

3) I've seen TT motors go up to 200k miles

I personally would build a mustang. They have always been a great stable platform to work off of, and the extra 2 cylinders and displacement are always a help in the end.

Mustang = cheep HP

Z = Awesome car

You need to decide which car is what YOU are looking for. They are pretty diferant cars. Take a look at some good versions of both. When your ready the Z will choose you.

Here are a few nice z32's -- http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4288066797

Good Luck with your next project.

No need to flame but I agree with jezTeR. Both are very different cars. Sports car vs Pony car. It all comes down to what you want. If your sole purpose is straight line acceleration, and building up horsepower cheaply, and little else, then the mustang is probably a better choice. BUT if this to be a car you're going to live with, keep and drive daily, the Nissan would be a far better choice as it's more comfortable, more reliable and better made in additon to being very fast and nimble. I've owned Fords and Nissans, and have driven several mustangs (stock and modified) so I can tell 1st hand you the ownership experience with a Nissan is far superior to a Furd.

I would have to agree with everyone else. The cars are in different leagues. The stang is more of a muscle car, the Z is more exotic sports car. The stang is light, crude and straight line quick, while the Z is sophisticated, smooth, hitech and fast.Stangs are a dime a dozen while the Z's are more 'rare gem'.Kirk

The Mustange would be cheaper to build. Howerver the 300zx has more prestige. When a Ferrari owner tells me wow, thats prestige. BTW get the tt model be cheaper and less headache in the long run.
