I thought this was too good to pass up on not posting here on NICO. Someone over on Freshalloy has figured out that the spacing on the Mustang GT fuel rails is the same as the spacing of the KA fuel rails, with a set of brackets made from cheap home depot steel plate you can be well on your way to a top feed fuel rail that works with MSD style injectors:

Wow, thats really cool. I wonder how it will work at high boost and if the seals will be able to hold...

Well, they've since said it's not quite a perfect fit. I still think it's cool though :) Maybe next time I go to the junkyard I'll take an old KA rail with me to see how well some others match up on the spacing.

Its so easy to make your own fuel rail fella's. Just get some blank fuel rail stock that has the fuel passage predrilled and drill your own injector holes....done. Course you need to tap the ends to accept whatever fitting you want to install.

But Let us know if you find another suitable sub. Going to the junkyard is easier then drilling yourself.

You also need to add brackets to attach the fuel rail to the intake manifold...and to do it properly, you need to chamfer the holes for the injectors so you don't rip the seals. It isn't hard...but don't expect to hold the rail in one hand while you drill it with the other and come out with a rail that doesn't leak.

It is...but this is top feed and all the rails we are talking about are top feed ;) Top feed rails let you use much cheaper injectors and thats why people switch.

Yeah right now to switch to a top feed rail with top feed injectors is just a smidgen cheaper than side feeds and more hassle...but with a junkyard or diy rail it would widen the gap making the deal that much sweeter :)

Lol, gotta love that ghetto fab style. I've got a buddy that thinks like you WD. In fact your post almost sounds like his recipe for "custom" motor mounts! :P

I like to do things the easy way, too...but you have to be smart about it. It's always easier to do something the right way the first time, than to do a cheesy job and then redo it.

Or you could spend $100 bucks and get a custom fuel rail from jgycustoms or unstable hybrids

Call JGY, talk to Shaun...every time I've called he's been there and been willing to talk at length with me. I'm very happy with the rail I got from them too.

hey sorry to revive this from the dead, but the mustang rail would work with 72 pound msd's or not? should I just try and get a jgy customs or JWT rail?

Well, it'd work with them as well as any other top feed in theory. It's just that it seems the spacing is just a smidgen off, if you arent in a rush it might be worth it to pick up a rail at a junkyard just to testfit :)

my brother has a mustang and a thunderbird and he is shoulders deep into the mustang community so I'm sure he can hook me up with someone parting out a car.v-8 mustangs around here don't keep their engines very long in junkyards...
