That should work pretty well. The new mustang is light, and having a V8, there is a lot of potential for torque. I'm going to keep my eye on this one.

The paintjob (on the second on that KDashy posted) needs to go, though. Ford people like the wierdest colors...I mean, what other fullsize truck have you ever seen in baby blue?

I heard JR talking about getting rid of the solid rear axel (i belive) though... so its anything but a stock mustang

Speaking of modern muscle cars drifting, has anyone heard if the GTO drifting teams have switched over to the new version yet? It's got some minor body changes, such as a new hood, but the most important change is the engine. The new (2005) GTO gets the same 6.0 liter LS2 that is in the Corvette, and now makes 500 hp.

Ken got $100,000 from Ford and a supercharged Mustang while JR just got the regular v8 but I think they're planning a motor swap.

The green and blue is like Falken's new theme. Like the old one was silvier and grey.. that one looked awesome.

I think I'm gonna s**t myself when I see the Mustang GT-R in person for the first time. If reliability holds up then you're lookin at the Motor Trend car of the year.

I think it's cool as hell. I've got a buddy with a 96 cobra pushing 400+whp, set up for drifting, that I've been trying to get to go to events. I hope this makes him change his mind and go for it.

If anyone boos Gushi at the next D1, I will kick your ***.

Booing a domestic is gay. Gayer than driving one. I say that if Gush can make it swing, more power to him.

And GTO teamS? so far as I knwo, theres only one GTO on the drifting circuit: Rhys Millen. Im pretty sure he's still running the '04 GTO. Though an engine upgrade to the new motor wouldnt be out of question. must be nice ot be factory sponsored :-p

Good point. I don't know why people boo'd Rhys Millen in the GTO. Did I miss something or is it domestic prejudice . Anyway, the high performance Cobra 'stangs are getting IRS so I guess they should hold their own. That paint job is cool for a race car but most def a no go on the street.

meh its more of a race (no pun) thing id say. an american white guy drifting a domestic?? no way would the crowd go for that. this time they thought it through by getting gushi behind the wheel of a domestic. its more crowd friendly.

one thing, why in that picture does the car have tire warmers on it, just for show purposes to keep the tires clean?

ps: how come in that speed options article it says gushi is driving the toyo mustang, whereas everyones talking about him driving the falken car?

That's actually a Tein-design paint job. Its identical to their R34 race car.

I like the new 05' Stang on the sole reason that its styled like the ol' 70's era Stangs. I like all musclecars from that decade.

The new mustang is styled after the 1968 Mustang Fastback, the 70s mustangs look quite a bit different.

Oh well, I was close enough, they didn't really lose the original design until the horrible 80's came around.

no have you ever seen the mid to late 70s mustangs? god theyre horrible...no performance because of the oil embargo, the 74-78 mustangs are viewed as some of the worst cars to grace the earth. that body style with the 5.0 and whatnot went with minor changes from 79-93, when the newer shape came out that lasted through 99, and so on...

when i was like 8 i wanted a cobra thats why i know all this, then i discovered imports from my dad and uncle...dont hurt me lol

I swear to God that the words "drifting" and "Mustang" should never appear in the same sentence/thread title ever again, period.

Storytime folks:

I knew a guy with a 2001 Mustang Cobra. He thought he was gonna be cool and show us how to drift. Well, as he's sideways in a turn, and we're all watching, BAM, it happens. Traction control kicks in. His car jerks forward and smashes the front end into a guardrail. Funniest thing I think I've ever seen.

yeah but it goes like stink, I have some digital photos from the last grind session. As for the mustang:1st, no that is the falken paint job used on the endurance racing car they had a couple years ago, it was a skyline R33 I believe and tein also sponsored it, but it was the falken title sponsor car. second, the booties on the tires: pics were on falken's website before the new azenis had been released so they were trying to create some hype for the new tires by keeping them under wraps. As for the mustang "GTR" as far as I know that was a concept car only, my brother is pretty well grounded in ford and mustangs and he said its not going to be in production. There will be a cobra version coming soon, likely to be IRS and superchaged and badass.Am I the only one who noticed how much cheaper the new mustang is than the 350z, and their numbers seem to be pretty similar. and IMO, it looks great. The old mustangs sold really well but never were my cup of tea, but I think ford really has a winner with the new ones. I'd defintely drive one.
