get the old turbo 22r from the 85 or 86 Toyotas, they can handle 19 or so pounds of boost on stock internals, nothing says fun like smoking a honda in a 4x4 pickup

Hard to recommend a car if we don't know the price range and the type of car you want. Also, curious why do your folks want the 240sx sold? it's not a sports car..

He said he did NOT want something sporty, I would seriously consider a toyota Camry. A 2002 for newer (save 6 grand) or look at the 97's.

They are great cars. As much as I love Nissan, you can't beat Toyota for a transport pod. Comfy, last forever.

Nope. You may consider the 240 a sports car, and I agree with what you said about them (except the "pretty fast" part - they're not fast in stock form), but they're not sports cars. They're "sporty coupes". Preludes, Eclipses, Celicas all fall into the same category. If your insurance company considered them sports cars, you'd be paying considerably more for insurance. That's part of the 240sx's charm.

a $5K practical Nissan, but fun to drive. Hmmmm. I see two choices. 1. Sentra SE-R (a true wolf in sheeps clothing, fun and very reasonable), 2. an older Maxima. Bigger and more comfortable, but a little more expensive to maintain than a Sentra or 240. Nice car. And 3. previous generation Altima. I like the new genreration Altima much more, but they are a little more expensive than $5K. The previous generation Altima did not excite me as much, though its a very competent car though. Would be fine as a daily driver.

As a guy, you know there are advantages to having cramped quarters when piling girls into your car. And the 240 is a 4 seater.

Enjoy

right now i can only fit 9 girls in the 240, so its just dosent have enough room. my insurance company dose consider my car to be a sports car, and it dosent help that its red, so i pay about 150 a month, and thats with a clean record.ive been thinking about a b13 sentra ser, but like said, i want more room, so a maxiam, or if im lucky, a older g20 is probaly what i'll end up getting.

You might want to get some quotes from other insurance companies. If your ins. co. classifies it a sports car, you're being overcharged. I had a red '89 S13 and it was considered a ordinary coupe and cost me very little to insure.

I've heard from numerous insurnace agents that the color of the car makes absolutely no difference... Why would it, car color has absolutely no bearing on one's driving habits, good or bad.

Agree. Driver's age and where you live are among the biggest factors, driving record too.

this is true, but color does effect the likely hood of being pulled over my a cop. I know from personal experience, i've owned 5 cars and its amazing some of the stupid reasons some cops will come up with just to pull you over.

Red cars statistically are involved in more accidents, white cars less. 2nd place for accidents are gunmetal colored cars, they blend in to the road. Red cars are also used by more aggressive drivers, unfortunantly. I found this a few years ago on State Farms' site. I do not know if it is still there.

The car i owned before my 240 was my 97 oldsmobile, its a grandma car any way you look at it. But its red and i get pulled over all the time because of it, and being 16, ok grades, and a speeding ticket doesnt help my insurance. Im forking out over 300 dollars per month for it, not what i call livin the easy life.

on the radio today there was a guy saying he slept with his girlfriend in a UPS truck over 100 times, so make sure you check the seats before you get one. You dont want any suprises to come with your truck.
