Hey all, I'm feeling the need for two posts tonight. For those who recognize my name, I apologize for at times what might appear as narrow mindedness -- as I realize I've tended to post similar topics...I've just been excited about my new fronty. OK, here's the deal... have an 07 nismo frontier, ~5500 miles, volant cai, added nissan oval running boards and a one piece polymer bed cover (~60 lbs) -- those are the extent of my stock alterations. I DRIVE ABOUT 20/25 MILES TO WORK AND BACK, 70% of which is highway. I'M AVERAGING 14.2 MILES PER GALLON, that's just wrong, please let there be someone out there that can help. Before anyone asks, yes, i put my foot in it a little, but i 'm not racing stop light to stop light by any means.

I don't know why you are only getting 14mpg.

For comparision -- I drive at least 20-30miles a day, mixed driving. I average 19-20mpg on a tank, usually in the 20mpg range. I've seen as much as 21-22mpg on an all highway tank. My truck is an 06 SE 4.0 Auto 4x4 King Cab. No modifications. I am on of the highest mpg frontiers on nico, just so you are aware.

Things you could affect mpg:-Dirty/clogged air filter-Tire inflation-Using the correct gear-Keep the truck clean-Driving habits-Proper maintenance-Extra/excess weight

I don't think I missed anythign but I might have. Also, your truck only has a few miles. My trucks mpg went up a couple of mpg after the ~7000ish mile mark, somewhere in there.

For most vehicles the break in point is between 4-7k miles and after that performance and mileage should increase. I agree with everything that hschris said. It will cause more wear on the breaks but use them more instead of gearing down (just roll up to stops ect). Also make sure your hitting all of your shift points, I cruise around in my hardbody in 5th gear doin 35mph. So take advantage of your gears as much as possible. As far as highway mileage goes just make sure that your up to date on your maintience and using the correct weight of oil.
