So last night I ended up having to go to the grocery store for a few items pretty late at night, so I went to the local Albertsons. Parked, went in, did my transaction, came back out.

Walked up to my car and hit my unlock button twice. I heard the "click" of my locks popping, but didn't see the light flash. I was confused, and started to look around.

OH! that's what it is. My car was one to the left.

I had parked in a dark section of the lot, and apparently when I was gone, a Sapphire Blue S HB pulled up and parked next to me. When it is dark enough, the Blue Onyx and Saph Blue are almost indistinguishable. Interesting...

I did that once with my Sephia...couldn't figure out why the doors wouldn't unlock with the key in the door...thought..."Cheap car...always something wrong." Even though in the 5 years I had the car it was a CHAMP and never had any problems.

That's pretty funny. It is amazing how different some car paints look at night under artificial lighting. Some colors seem to change completely.

I once had a Pontiac Firefly 1987 and my sister had a Suzuki Forsa of the same year. (Twin cars) Both were of the same color. With the key of one or other, we were able to unlock and start each other car!!!

Division manager I worked for in the early 90s had a good one, too. Rented a car in St. Louis for a meeting. Came out of the hotel in the early morning, unlocks the car and drives to Kansas City for another meeting. Gets out, opens the trunk, and realizes it's not his car. It was another rental car that was parked next to his at the St. Louis hotel that happened to be keyed the same. The other guy had already filed a stolen car report when my manager called them and let them know he was bringing it back.

With all these intellikeys and remotes I guess it's a lot harder to accidentally unlock someone else's car these days.

I have a similar story involving house keys...

I lived in these ghetto apartments here in Berea and we were moving to a town house. Well, I had gotten all fancy keys made for our old apartment so I held the key up to the new one to see if maybe the fancy one could just be recut... they were exactly the same... I couldn't do that a second time if I tried...

Wow...LOL.

OK, I know I'm jacking this thread but I don;t see an option to PM Kimber so I hope I don't tick a mod off, it's not my intention.

Kimber...you live in Berea, KY...I just noticed that. The past 2 years I've been volunteering with Habitat For Humanity of Madison County for a week in the summer. We helped build a bunch of houses in a subdivision there. Small world... maybe next year I'll see that sweet looking camel on the road!

Now back to our regularly scheduled thread...

I HAD a Sapphire V...it wass begging to be killed and I, unfortunately, made it happen after avoiding everyone else on the road that was trying to do it for me. Seriously, you couldn't have paid me to buy another one that color...which is sad because I absolutely LOVED the color and so did everyone that saw my car

It is a pretty color... that everybody in your neck of the woods apparently loves to hate... maybe I shouldn't bring the Camel on my next Chicago excursion...

don't hit my baby.

I'm always open to new friendships, LOL!

Yeah...I'm sad I lost my Sapphire Versa...I really am. When I shop for cars color is a low priority (except maybe hot pink or purple or some other not so "manly" color) I'd rather have the options I want first. WHich is partly why I ended up with the Mag Gray one...it was fully loaded at a spectacular price. I like it and (so far) no one's tried to kill me or my car

That just means you're not doing it right. People are still supposed to seek you out and try to kill you. Like that Siemens van the other night that blew right through a 4-way stop and tried to broadside me. But failed.

Of course, my friend and I went to my Nissan dealer a couple weeks ago because he wanted to see an Versa Sedan and a Sentra up close and personal, and what do I find?

A Versa SL HB that was ALMOST exactly what I was looking for last time I bought mine... '08, 6-speed, with ABS AND Convenience but NO sunroof/audio. Even had the right color fabric. But it was the wrong blue. (I would have also accepted Mag Gray or Black, but they had 2 Saph Blue's in this exact config... and it's just too bright of a blue for my tastes)
